COLD FORM STEEL SYSTEMS
OVERVIEW MPI LGS was established in the Sultanate in 2019. During this
period the company has proven itself as a leader in the Cold
Form Steel (CFS) and Modular Construction industry with a
strong portfolio of familiar multinational clients.
There is a cold formed steel solution for all types of commercial,
industrial and residential structures. The factory-based construction
promotes speed and efciency making it the ideal system for a
cost-effective project. Design, engineering, fabrication and
construction are all part of the in-house services.

COMPARISONS BETWEEN LGS & RC BUILDINGS
ELEMENTS MPI LGS TRADITIONALRCC CONSTRUCTION
Minimum site work and components are lighter, reducing the risk of lifting operation and manual handling.
Most of the activities are in situ and the components are heavy, requiring heavy lifts and poor manual handling.
BuildabilityFlexible in design and fabricated in factory. Easy adaptation for any changes during construction.
Rigid in design and most of the construction is in situ. Rigid and not always easy for any changes during construction.
Speed inConstruction
Enhanced productivity in factory conditions, shallow and simple foundation, no curing or striking time contributes up to 20% saving in construction time.
In situ construction, deeper and complex foundation, curing and striking time often results in longer construction time.
ReducedCost
Offsite fabrication, faster construction, reduced labour & prelims, elimination of decking system results in cost saving of up to 30% compared to traditional building.
In situ construction, high dependency on concrete supply, labour intensive, striking & curing time, prolongation of activities, results in additional cost.
EnergyEfciency
With the right selection of insulation and boarding, the building is often energy efcient by lowering the cooling requirement.
Higher energy is required to rst cool the RCC/Block structure which results in higher cooling requirement.
Defectsafter
Completion Minimal to negligible.
Often high, with cracks developing in plaster/block work, requiring investigation and remedial works.

MPI LGS’ unique modular building design is one of the most advanced in today’s market.
Modules are assembled in the factory, including MEP and nishes, then transported to
site as a completed product. The main advantage of modular construction is speed and
accuracy; this is due to the production line method of construction where greater quality
control procedures can be maintained.

Whether you’re looking for a warehouse, factory, cold stores or a simple shed there’s a
CFS solution for any industrial application. The client has the option of selecting one of
the predesigned structures avoiding costly design and engineering expenses.
Automated roll milling allows rapid production meaning your building can be delivered
much sooner than traditional methods. Our back to back column and beam combination
allows us to achieve spans up to 24m and greater upon request

MPI LGS has completed a number of residential projects around the region making their
knowledge in this category tried and tested. CFS alternative is much quicker and more
energy efcient than conventional methods. Our typical substructure uses 80-90% less
concrete compared to RCC and can be completed in one pour. This enables us to start
the superstructure in weeks rather than months.
Average completion time for a standard villa is 5 – 6 months and less for modular. Naturally
steel frame is one of the most effective products on the market due to the wall cavity that
offers greater thermal, acoustic and re performance.

Commercial building designs often vary from project to project. It’s best to discuss
options with our in-house design team. They can offer advice on the design parameters
and guidelines that need to be considered when using a CFS system. This will ensure the
design process has begun on the correct path ensuring no duplications or redesigns.
Creating an efcient design for your development is key to a quick and cost-effective
project.

MPI LGS produce a wide range of sections which our designers use for two types of
high-rise construction options; CFS sections are typically supplied to site as built up wall
panels with mechanical connections at all joints. CFS is a versatile product and has many
advantages over traditional concrete block walls and partitions:
The system is a fast track solution which will reduce the overall construction programme.
Lightweight construction reduces loads on the primary structural frame and
sub-structure design.
Adjusting components to length on site means tolerances in the structure’s primary
structural frame can be accommodated.
Reduces wet trades and site expenses of water, housekeeping and waste.
Energy efcient due to cavity wall offering greater thermal performance.
