Download - collection and germination of seed
OBJECTIVE
To study the morphology and maturity of the seeds
of a tree
To learn how to properly collect and
process of separation of seeds
To know the growth stage of seedlings
To know the difference of the four trees in
terms of germination, height, morphology, etc.
Several objectives can be achieved through
the training industry, including the;
TYPES OF TREE
Cempaka(Michelliachampaka)
Tecoma(Tabebuiarosea)
Salam
(Eugineapolyantha)
Bungor
(Lagerstromiaspeciosa)

MATURITY PERIOD OF FROM FLOWERS TO MATURED FRUITS
MATURITY PERIOD OF FROM FLOWERS TO MATURED FRUITSTo study the period of time taken for the flowers to
turn into fruits
To find out the time taken for the fruits to be matured
Facilitate the collection of seeds
Observation method- Choosing a flower
from a tree and took picture of it. Within every
week, observation was done on the process to
know for how long does the flower to change into
fruits.
a) Tecoma
Choose a flowering
tree and take pictures
of a flower.
1st WEEK
flowers fall, but did
not produce fruits.
-Tecoma trees produce
a lot of flowers .
Flowers observed
previously undetectable
and force to review
Tecoma flowers are not
as much last week.
Flowering plants have to
be autumn
Nothing changes Finally, tecoma flower
has been producing
fruit, just waiting for
the mature fruit.
Still not matured The fruits matured
Results of studies on maturity of the fruit for 8 weeks

BEFORE AFTER
Observations on the maturity period from
flowers to fruits for Tecoma is it takes only
3 weeks for the flowers to fruits and
changes to the mature fruit only take 2
weeks.

Choose a flowering tree
and take pictures of a
bunch of flowers.
Flowers have turn into
fruit, but not
completely.
The flowers turn into
fruits completely.
No changes. Seeds
are still not
matured.
Still no changes Still no changes Still no changes Still no changes
Tecoma fruits matured faster than Bungor, Bungor
take a long time. Almost 2 months waiting for the
fruits to matured but still not mature.
COLLECTION OF SEEDS
SEEDS COLLECTION•Collect seeds of Tecoma, Bungor, Salam and Cempaka
•There are 3 types of seed collection
Collect from the ground
Collect from the tree under 5 meter
Collect from the tree for more than 5 meter
THE PROCESS OF SEPARATION OF SEEDS
a) Cempaka
b) Salam
C) Bungor seeds
d)Tecoma seeds
GERMINATION OF SEEDS
Preparation of the nursery base1. Put the soil mixture(1:1) sand: coconut peat into the nursery base
provided
2. Watering the nursery base has to be done
3. Seeds sown in the order and types of plants;
i.Tecoma =100 seeds sown
ii.Cempaka =100 seeds sown
iii.Salam =100 seeds sown
iv.Bungor =100 seeds sown
Results and observations of seed germination
The growth stage of seedlings
Seeds that have been sown, will be observed from day
to day. From seed, until the young plants, becoming a
large tree. However, in our study is to observe the
seeds to seedlings . Because the
research was only for 2 months.
Below shows the growth of young trees
and bungor tecoma. Cempaka tree growth
is not shown because of Cempaka do not grow well
and Salam did not germinate at all.

THE GROWTH
STAGE
OF BUNGOR
i. Tecoma
-easy to grow
-also suitable for planting in
the sand medium
-high germination rate and
faster than bungor, salam,
and cempaka
Bungor
-germination does not occur
simultaneously
- medium-fast germination
-number of leaves produces were
faster than tecoma
Salam
- Does not germinate well
- ’Replanting’
- sensitive and rapid seed
moldy
-environment
cempaka
- Growth rate increased at first, but
decreased sharply
-most of the young plants were
attack by insect
-low resistance
-less water, easily wilt
-seeds are
not suitable
for planting
in the medium
1:1) of sand
and coconut peat.
-’replanting’
Cempaka “replanting”
-grow well
-just use the sand medium

CONCLUSIONFor the seeds collection, the
hardest seeds to be collected is the
Tecoma, because the seed is easy
to fly. It is almost high and
difficult to take it. For Cempaka
and Salam seeds are most easily
collected because the tree is low
altitude. The results of germination
of seeds showed Tecoma trees
sprout more quickly, easily grown
from the Salam, Cempaka and
bungor.
