Dear Senator,
March 26, 1987
We are thrilled that you are with the President and we want you to know that we support you 100% as we do the President.
September 9th, we have invited Frank Fahrenkoft and Paul Kirk to be our Fall Guys. We hope for total acceptance soon.
If we do, we hope you will be my guest at that luncheon and we will call your secretary after it is all accomplished.
J oy and Senator Dirksen were a big part of my life at the Shoreham Hotel in my music days as you have become.
You are super to all of us.

The P. T. Barnum Tent was founded in Washington in 1952 by Harold R. Robinson , as the Chapter for the Nation's Capital of the Circus Saints and Sinners Club of America. "Robbie" presided over the Tent's organizational meeting on January 19th of that year, and the Tent's first "roast" was staged just four months later on May 26th , 1952 .
Over those 35 years from 1952 through 1986 , we have staged a total of 128 roastings , for -since some were double-headers, or more -- a total of 139 Fall Guys and Dolls .
At every roasting we have made a generous contribution to the charity that has been selected by the roast's Fall Guy or Fall Doll -- a tribute to the good sports that all these fine people have been. They have all taken our roastings with graciousness and good nature, to help to aid the imposing array of worthy charities that we have benefitted over our 35 years of support to those who have not been so fortunate as we have been .
