(1) Thanksgiving Service for Pastor Ernie Roy Emerson Wright- Sunday September 8, 2013
It is with deep sadness, that we announce the passing of Pastor E.R.E Wright, who served as former
President of the East Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. He passed on Sunday, August
25, 2013. -1-

Pastor Wright joined the West Jamaica Conference as an Associate Publishing Director in 1957, then
later joined the Pastoral team in 1959. In 1971, he became Secretary of the Conference and by 1975
he became President. He then worked as President for six (6) years and later returned to the Pastoral
District. In 1984 he was called to serve East Jamaica Conference where he laboured until his time of
retirement. He retired October 1998. He served the organization for 42 years. Pastor Wright leaves to
mourn: his wife Lunnett and three (3) adult children and other relatives and friends.
The Thanksgiving Service for Pastor Wright has been set for Sunday September 8, at the Sav-la-mar
High School, in Western Jamaica. We ask that you pray for his family as they go through this period
of grief.
(2) Ontario Conference re-elects Mansfield Edwards as President for a Second Term
On a more cheerful note, we are pleased to announce that former Youth Director of East Jamaica
Conference, Pastor Mansfield Edwards has been re-elected to serve as President of the Ontario
Conference, in Canada. Delegates to the 33rd constituency meeting of the Ontario Conference of
Seventh-day Adventists overwhelmingly re-elected Edwards as conference president on the first day
of the three-day meeting, from August 23-25, 2013 at College Park Seventh-day Adventist Church,
Oshawa. We wish him Gods richest blessings as he leads in that part of the vineyard.
(3) Health & Family Life Department present Mens Health Seminar- September 22, 2013
The Health Ministries Department in association with the Family Life Department will conduct aMens Health Seminar at V.H. Percy Centre, Sunday, September 22, at 10 a.m. A contribution
of$1,000, will take care of all screening tests to be done. Ladies, do encourage your husbands to
attend.
(4) Notices from the Religious Liberty Department
A Religious Liberty newsletter will be launched in the month of October. The purpose of this organ
is to inform members of what is happening locally and abroad as far as civil and religious rights are
concerned and of course the impact that certain changes may have on the Seventh-day Adventist
Church.
Also, please bear in mind that shortly after the first quarter of 2014, there will be a Jamaica Union
Conference Religious Liberty Day. This religious liberty rally will include all 5 conferences. The
proposed venue is the national arena. We will update you as time goes by.

(5) Notices from the Spirit of Prophecy Department
We continue to encourage each church to read our spirit of prophecy books in a systematic way as
we need to guard well the avenues of the soul against the evils of these last days that we see all
around us.
On Sabbath October 5 will be Spirit of Prophecy Day. Please make this day a special one. It would
be a fine gesture to have a graduation service or handing out of certificates to recognize all those who
are reading the said book(s).
(6) Notices from the Education Department
A. The Education Department hosted its Leadership Training and Professional Development
Seminar on Tuesday on August 27, 2013. To review the photo highlights of the event click
here.
B. We continue to remind the public that our schools are now accepting students for the
2013/2014 School Term. For further information you may contact the Education Department
by dialing 924-1061-3. Please be reminded of our five schools: Kingsway High and Prep,
New Hope Prep, Hagley Park Prep, Woodford Prep and Miramar Prep that have each been
strategically placed across our constituency to serve you better. Do make the right choice in
giving your child a Christ centered Education.
C. The Education Department presents a career opportunity for an individual to become a Part
Time Teacher of Physical Education beginning September 2, 2013. Persons applying shouldhave the following qualifications: Teaching Diploma, preferably from GC Foster College
NCTVET Levels 1 and 2. A knowledge of Microsoft applications and use of multimedia is an
asset. Applications should to: The Principal of the Hagley Park Preparatory School.

(7) Notices from the Youth Ministries Department
(Youth Leaders Meeting in Mandeville Sunday September 1, 2013)
This serves to formalize the arrangements for the meeting of Youth Directors and Youth Leaders to
be held in Mandeville on Sunday, September 1. Please note:
1. The meeting begins at 9:30 am and continues until 4 pm.
2. The venue is Victor Dixon High School
3. The agenda has already been shared with all Youth Directors and your comments
and responses invited.

4. Persons invited are Federation presidents + one other officer from each federation;
3 Area Coordinators preferably drawn from among those with responsibility for
training, communication/ administration, and social development/ special events
planning; Master Guide Association presidents.
5. Lunch will be provided.
(8) Notices from the Children's Ministries Department
1. All CMDs whose children were not engaged in the Discipleship Training are asked toconduct this in your churches. Your Pastors and Elders will assist you in the training. Kindlyask your Pastors to pick up your packages.
2. Levels 2 & 3 Leaders Certification course will be done via Distance Training. All CMDs areasked to pick up the package or access this on line. The final sessions will be held at GoldenAcres /EJC Board Room in November 2013.
3. CMDs, you are asked to encourage parents to a make use of the special KIDS in the
Kitchen forum to be held October 24-27, 2013 @ Holiday Inn Resort, Montego Bay.
The total contribution is $6,000. This includes return fare, seminar and presenters tokens.
Last date for registration September 30, 2013.
4. International Childrens Week of Prayer - October 13-19, 2013. Please contact the office fordetails.

1. Counting Down! WMDs, do all you can to have at least one GEM representing your churchat the 4 day seminar October 24-27, 2013. Call immediately and book their place.Adults/Mentors come for your Rest & Relaxation. Bring your friends and coworkers.
2. Levels 2 & 3 Leaders Certification course will be done via Distance Training. All WMDsare asked to pick up the package or access this on line. Then go through the material with
your team members. The final sessions will be held at Golden Acres /EJC Board Room inNovember.
3. Abuse Prevention Day in all churches Sabbath, August 31, 2013. You are asked to remind
the congregants of the reasons to ENDITNOW. A short one minute statement can be read
by the church clerk or a statement put in the bulletin.

4. Come rest awhile all hard working adults, male and female. Book now for a full package
of physical rejuvenation from October 24 -27, 2013, at the Holiday Inn Resort. Credit card
payments are accepted.
5. The report for January to June, as well as the activity sheet for July to December is being
sent via your Pastors. Note that activities like Moms in Touch, IMAP and GEMS areongoing. Kindly give it your attention. In addition you are asked to send your reports to theoffice.

not grow unless it is planted. The onlyway to determine if a seed is alive is toplant it. In the same way we will not growunless you train us. So parents please trainus so that we will grow well.

EJC School of Evangelism Big City Evangelism & parish development Summit-September 15,2013in the EJC boardroom, 9 a.m12:30 p.m (Kingston & St. Andrew) & September 29, 10 a.m@ Morant Bay SDA Church (St. Thomas). The main purpose is to intensify field preparation forcampaign in the Big City Mission. Personal Ministries leaders, assistants & secretaries, laypreachers, Community Services leaders, all students of the SOE and all other interests areespecially invited. PLEASE TAKE YOUR REFRESHMENT. EJC School of Evangelism (EJC SOE) 2013 Year III training sites are as follow:
Principle of Evangelism and Principle of Discipleship & Membership Retention are mandatory forstudents to be eligible for graduation. Registration fee is eight hundred dollars ($800.00). Registrationform is available on line.

N.B. Sabbath School superintendents and Personal Ministries leaders are reminded of the end of
quarter report which is due on the 10th of each month following the end of the quarter, (report form
& explanation sheets are available on line). Also, please be reminded of the weekly evangelistic
reports from your churches. (We are requesting your Small Groups updates).
(11) Special Events Happening in some of our Churches
A. True Purpose Ministries Heads to Shortwood SDA Church Sabbath September 7, 2013 forAY:
True Purpose Ministries is comprised of a group of dynamic young people, all passionate about helping
others to discover their divinely orchestrated purpose in life. Their message of Purpose is inspired from
Jeremiah 29:11-13, Proverbs 19:21, & Jeremiah 1:5 and seeks to promote the importance of each of us
seeking after God to find His specific plans and purposes for our respective lives.
This programme encourages youth and mature members of congregation to prayerfully ask God to showus His Gifts and Talents so that we may use them to be a blessing and inspiration to others.
The programme format is musical in nature and usually features informative presentations from Pierre
Wright(founder), DeniseAntoinetteSimpson(co-founder). On Sabbath September 7, they will be
journeying to the Shortwood SDA Church and they invite you to journey with them as they seek to
take you on a spiritual journey. Thats True Purpose Ministries at the Shortwood SDA Church on
Sabbath afternoon (September 7) at 4:30pm. You cant afford to miss it!
B. Andrews Memorial SDA Church to host its Annual Health & Wellness Series September 1 to
October 6, 2013:
The Andrews Memorial SDA Church will be hosting its annual Health & Wellness Series duringthe month of September. The series kicks off with the Good Samaritan Health Run on September1, 2013. Health presentations begin on September 8 and continue through to October 6, 2013. AHealth Fair will also take place on Sunday October 6, the final day of the series.
The Health Presentations in the series will be complemented by a charge by the Senior Pastor-Samuel Lewis. Presentations will be held on Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday night at7:00p.m. Sabbath presentations are at 8:00a.m., 11:15a.m. and 5:00pm. Thats the AndrewsMemorial SDA Churchs annual Health & Wellness Series beginning on September 1. Youre ofcourse invited to attend. Plan and make it a date!
C. Stadium Community SDA Church Presents Communication Day 2013:
The Stadium Community SDA Church presents their Communication Day on Sabbath August 31,2013 beginning at 9:15am. Join them for a spirit-filled day of worship. Specially invited guestspeaker for the day is Brother Leon Ffrench- Information System Manager for the East JamaicaConference of Seventh-day Adventists. It will be a day of singing, fellowship and worship.

Dear Brethren:
Greetings!
Let me hope that by now you would have received your five sermons and information concerning
Health Emphasis Week, which is from September 21 to September 28. Please put Health on the front
burner it is very important, it is the right arm of the church.
In a previous letter and in the Calendar of Events it was stated that there would be a cooking class onSeptember 28, at V.H. Percy Centre however, due to circumstances the event is cancelled until further
notice.
And finally, the Medical Missionary Graduation which was scheduled for September 7, has been
rescheduled for Sunday, September 29, at 5 p.m. at the Kencot SDA Church.
