The hood is one of the styling features that make the Model 337 unmistakably a Peterbilt. But beyond its contemporary look, the hood optimizes visibility and aerodynamic performance.
The hood is constructed of Metton, a lightweight but extremely durable material that can help minimize damage from impacts and road debris. Additionally, headlights are protected by tough Lexan lenses that are impact resistant. Together, these durable materials help minimize service needs and downtime versus competitive designs.
Best in class forward lighting is achieved through Peterbilt’s exclusive complex refl ector headlamp design that providesexceptional coverage and down-road visibility. Service re-quirements are also minimized as lamp adjustment or bulb replacement can be done with common tools.

The Model 337’s hood opens a full 90 degrees to give service technicians ample access to perform common maintenance.
Enhanced serviceability was a priority in designing the engine compartment. For instance, commonly accessed fluid receptacles are located on the driver’s side of the vehicle – the cooler side of the engine – providingtechnicians with easy visibility and access to check fluid levels and replenish when necessary.
Electrical connections are organized, easy to reach and covered to protect them from contamination and provide exceptional reliability. Fluid Check Location

Aerodynamically styled side mirrors are mounted to the cab with three points of contact, minimizingvibrations and maximizing stability.
Compared to some competitive designs that have door-mounted mirrors, the Model 337’s cab-mounted mirrors mean less wear and tear on the mirrors’electrical system that can become strained through repeated door opening and closing over the years.

The Model 337’s strong, aluminum doors have a double sealing system that ensures a tight closure and minimizes noise and air from entering the cab.
The cab and door design creates one of the widestopenings in the industry for improved safety when entering or exiting the vehicle.
Peterbilt’s classic piano-style hinges evenly distribute door load over a large area to provide a lifetime of worry-free operation. The 3/8” stainless steel hinge pins ensure the Model 337’s doors can take on the loads generated during ingress and egress with ease. Additionally, hinges will stay rust free throughout the life of the vehicle.

Ease of entry and egress is further facilitated by staircase-style steps and grab handles mounted to the A-pillar and B-pillar. Compared to competitive designs with narrow, ladder-like steps and only one grab handle, the Model 337 reduces operator fatigue and enhances safety. It also reduces stress on the steering wheel and door pocket, which driverscommonly use as handles to compensate forcompetitive designs with only one grab handle.
