Contribution of agriculture and allied sectors to Indian GDP is on Decline
• The agriculture sector is the least preferred profession in theminds of youth today due to the lack of support andopportunities extended to them, which may have seriousimplications in context to country's food security.
• In the background of glamorous and attractive white collaredjobs, youth regard agriculture as a menial profession. Even the"Gen next" of the agriculturists are not keen enough to take up theprofession and continue the legacy.
CONCERNS
With the tremendous potential in the agrarian sector, the opportunities in this sector needs to be tapped. The youth are constantly on a look out for
new avenues. Keeping this in mind, the gap needs to be bridged
Involvement of Youth should be encouraged
We often tend to associate only farmers with agriculture. Although they are an indispensible part of the agrarian system, there exists a complex and symbiotic relationship between the farmers and the other links in the
supply-chains and allied industries.
