Couse Description This full-day course will concentrate on the following areas of TMD:
Course Objectives The participants will receive, from Oral Medicine, Physical Therapy and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery interdisciplinary perspectives, a review of the:
1. Basic anatomy and biomechanics of the TMJ2. Pathophysiology and psychosocial aspects of pain3. Assessment of TMD patients4. Classification of TMD5. Management of TMD patients

Dr.DeanKolbinsongraduatedfromtheCollegeofDentistry,UniversityofSaskatchewanandthencompletedtheGeneralPracticeResidencyprogramatUniversityHospitalinSaskatoon.He next received his Master of Science in Dentistry degree
andCertificateinOralMedicinefromtheUniversityofWashingtoninSeattle.Dr.KolbinsonthenjoinedthefacultyattheCollegeofDentistry,UniversityofSaskatchewaninatenuretrackpositionandiscurrentlyaProfessor.Dr.KolbinsonisaFellowoftheRoyalCollegeofDentistsofCanadainOralMedicine.Hemaintainsapart-timespecialtypracticeinOralMedicineattheCollegeofDentistry,focusingonthemanagementofpatientswithtemporomandibulardisordersandotheroralandfacialpainconditions,oralmucosaldisease,andsalivarydysfunction.
MR. RICHARD BOURASSA
Mr.RichardBourassaistheseniorpartneratBourassaandAssociatesRehabilitationCentreandtheprovincialWorkersCompensationBoardRehabilitationConsultant.Mr.Bourassareceived his Bachelor of Physical Therapy degree in 1977 and Master of Science degree in 2000 from the University
ofSaskatchewan.Mr.BourassaisClinicalAssociateProfessorintheSchoolofPhysicalTherapywithconcurrentappointmentintheDepartmentofCommunityHealthandEpidemiology,theCollegeofMedicine,andapart- timeClinicalInstructorattheCollegeofDentistry,UniversityofSaskatchewan.
Mr.BourassahasanadvancedDiplomaofManipulativePhysicalTherapyfrom theCanadianAcademyofManipulativePhysiotherapy.Heisalsoachief examinerandseniorinstructorattheOrthopedicDivisionoftheCanadianPhysiotherapy Association.
Mr.BourassahasreceivednumerousawardsincludingSaskatchewanPhysiotherapyAssociationAwardforClinicalExcellence,35YearMembershipRecognitionAwardfromtheSaskatchewanPhysiotherapyAssociation,andGoldenHandsAward.

Dr.HohngraduatedfromtheFacultyofDentistry,University ofAlbertainEdmonton.Followingthat,Dr.HohnparticipatedintheTMJInvestigationUnitfor2yearsundertheguidance ofDr.WayneTunisandDr.PaulMajor.Hewasthenaccepted
intotheoralandmaxillofacialsurgeryresidencyattheUniversityofIllinois-MichaelReeseHospitalandMedicalCenter,Chicago.Duringthattenure,Dr.HohnwasfortunatetohavebeeninvolvedinanactiveandtertiaryTMJprogramunderthesupervisionofDr.RobertSchwartzandDr.LouisMercuri. SincereturningtoSaskatoon,Dr.HohnhasbeenactivelyinvolvedinprimaryandtertiaryTMJtherapyinconjunctionwithMr.RichardBourassa,Dr.DeanKolbinson,andtheoralandmaxillofacialsurgeonsofSaskatchewan. Dr.Hohnprimarilypracticesreconstructiveandorthognathicsurgery,butenjoysthevagariesanduncertaintyofTMJointpatientsandwhyweasaprofessioncannotsolvethismysterious,multifactorialmalady.

Dr.VirdireceivedhisDMDfromtheUniversityofSaskatchewanin2003.HepracticedasaDentalOfficerwiththeCanadianForces Dental Corps stationed at the National Defense HeadquartersinOttawafrom2003-2006.Dr.VirdicompletedhisOralandMaxillofacialSurgicalresidencyattheLoyola
UniversityMedicalCenter,Chicago,ILin2010.Currently,Dr.VirdiisinprivatepracticewiththeSaskatoonOralandMaxillofacialSurgeryAssociatesaswellasAssistantProfessorandCourseCoordinatorofUndergraduateOralandMaxillofacialSurgery,LocalAnesthesia,andBasicInternalMedicineattheUniversityofSaskatchewan,CollegeofDentistry.
