that speak to their understanding of the issues that are managed by a particular government
representative in the hope of being nominated by their party for the general election between the two

RULES FOR PARTICIPATION: Extra-curricular or Co-curricular activities at Cornwall Central School High School
* If an organization has bylaws that include more stringent regulations for members, then these
regulations will have priority over those included in this contract.
1. The “QUALITY COUNTS” Rule – Students are encouraged to participate in activities at CCHS.
However, please remember that it is the quality of your involvement in an organization that counts.
Participating in a greater number of activities is not always the best. Do not take on too much with a
busy academic schedule!
2. Students are encouraged not to hold more than three (3) offices in co-curricular or extra-curricular
activities during a given school year.
3. Students are required to attend at least 60% of the meetings or functions to maintain active status in the
organization. This is subject to each organization’s bylaws or regulations. If other regulations exist, then
the more stringent attendance ruling will apply for members of the organization.
4. Parental permission for a student to participate in an activity must be on file with the advisor before the
student can be involved.
5. Acts of stealing and willfully damaging District facilities or properties of those of another school or
facility will result in suspension of the student participants for the equivalent of 25 school days.
Restitution will be required before the student can participate in activities.
6. Students are financially responsible for all equipment used or fund-raising supplies supplied to them.
Should he/she fail to return an issued item or monies owed for selling fund-raising supplies, the student
must reimburse the school for its value and will not be permitted to further participate in any activity until
the item or money is retuned or reimbursed.
7. All students are required to use District transportion, when provided for an activity. The High School
Administration will consider exceptions to this rule.
8. Conduct unbecoming of a participant may result in disciplinary action by either the advisor or the high
school administration.
CONDUCT OF A CCHS STUDENT EXTRA/CO-CURRICULUAR ACTIVITIES PARTICIPANT
It is an honor and a privilege to represent your school. It is not a right. As a participant on a Cornwall team,
you represent yourself and your family as well as your school and your community. Your conduct before,
during, and after games will reflect on you and everyone else associated with your school and the school
district. The most important of these responsibilities is to broaden and develop strength of character. You owe
it to yourself to get the greatest possible good from your secondary school experience.
We want our clubs and activities teams to succeed. Cornwall teams are recognized for their commitment to
excellence, drive to succeed and dedication to sportsmanship. Student participants who have preceded you
have set high standards, and your challenge is to meet the standards they have set.
Being on an extra-curricular team or club may require sacrifices. You must make choices between all of the
activities that are appealing to you and your commitment to your teammates and advisors. Attending practices
and competitions is an essential part of that commitment. Participants are expected to attend all practices and
competitions set forth by their advisor. Maintaining your academic standing is crucial to being a student-
participant. Choosing not to consume cigarettes, drugs and alcohol are a part of that commitment. Being
present at any time where illegal or dangerous activity is taking place is not meeting your commitment to your
15
team and is not condoned. Should you ever find yourself in that situation, you are required to leave
immediately.
As a Cornwall participant, you are expected to abide by all school rules and regulations. By participating in
extra/co-curricular activities to the maximum of your ability, you are contributing to the reputation of the
school. Therefore you are expected to conduct yourself properly, as ladies and gentlemen, at all times. You
will respect opposing teams, advisors, and all officials/judges. You will display good sportsmanship at all
times.
Most importantly, you are expected to treat people with respect. Hazing, harassment or any form of behavior
which is intended to degrade, demean, humiliate, place at risk or cause physical or emotional harm will not be
tolerated.
PARTICIPATION RULES
1. All student participants are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with all school rules and
regulations.
2. Student participants will refrain from the use of illegal substances, including alcohol in any form.
(Automatic Level II Violation).
3. Student participants will refrain from smoking or the use of any form of tobacco products. This
includes E-Cigarettes and ANY form of ‘vaping’. (Automatic Level II Violation)
4. Student participants must conduct themselves in a proper and sportsmanlike manner at all times. This
includes but is not limited to home or away contest, practices, during the school day and in some cases
through the use of social media (Twitter, Instagram, FB, etc.). To do otherwise will be considered “conduct
unbecoming an athlete.”
5. Student participants are expected to be in school on time every day. Any particpant who arrives to school
after 10:30AM without a legal excuse from a parent will not be allowed to participate in that day’s practice
or contest.
6. Any student participant that accumulates 6 or more unexcused lates, regardless of time of day within any
one semester will be subject to additional disciplinary actions which may include, but is not limited to,
daily or weekly suspensions from participation.
7. Students who leave during the school day due to an illness are not permitted to attend or participate in
practices or contests on that day. Special permission to attend, but not participate in a contest may be
granted by the Athletic Director in unique situations.
8. Students who leave school grounds without permission from school personnel, regardless of reason or
excuse, are not permitted to attend or participate in any extra/co-curricular practice or contest on that
day and will be subject to additional suspensions as they relate to the CCHS Code of Conduct.
9. All student participants must meet the requirements for academic eligibility.
10. Students will not attend gatherings where underage drinking, use of drugs, or other illegal activities are
taking place. To do otherwise will be considered “conduct unbecoming an extra/co-curricular student
participant.”
16
Any student who conducts themselves in a manner that is considered ‘conduct unbecoming of an extra/co-
curricular student participant’, who has accumulated disciplinary referrals resulting in ISS or OSS, or, who is
disrespectful to teachers/advisors/administrators or other school staff, at any time during the year, whether in
session or not, may be subject to review by the Assistant Principal, Principal and Advisor as to their future
participation in the Cornwall Extra/Co-Curricular Programs. At the committee’s discretion, contracts or agreed
upon conditions may be established between the student, advisor and the committee.
Academic Eligibility (Grade 9-12)

display acceptable achievement and effort according to ability, to participate in extra/co-curricular activities, as
determined by the Eligibility Committee and High School Administration. The Academic Eligibility Committee will consist of the High School Assistant Principal, Student Counselor,

REMINDERS about Fundraising:
o Fundraising cannot involve any form of gambling (50/50, BINGO, etc.) if students under 18 will be
involved (this includes selling tickets).
o Fundraising cannot endorse a private business. You may not ‘advertise’ the name of a private business as
schools are prohibited by law from doing so. (i.e. cannot put the name of a restaurant and say shop there
and 10% of bill goes to group).
o Fundraising cannot disrupt the educational setting.
o Any fundraising involving food that does not meet the nutritional guidelines found in the following link
https://foodplanner.healthiergeneration.org/calculator/ and must happen after 2:30 PM and prior to
