Fayetteville, NC –Fayetteville continues tomove forward! We have along, rich history that isonly overshadowed byour flourishing, bright fu-ture. Our nation and theworld finds itself caughtin some of the most try-ing times in generations,and while many would becontent to give up, ourfriends and neighborsalike, have dug in, and weare working, everyday,for more prosperoustimes. With this in mind,I have recently been askedby many constituents toseek re-election and con-t inue to representFayetteville’s District 2on City Council. A re-quest, I am both humbledand overjoyed to accept.
In my own neighbor-hood, Fayetteville’s Dis-trict 2, we are beginningto see the benefits of theHOPE VI Project, areproud to call District 2home to Fayetteville’sCommunity Garden, en-
joying the continued growthand re-vitalization of our beau-tiful downtown, and are work-ing to ensure the safety of ev-eryone, on both sides of theriver.
In my four years as CityCouncilwoman, we’ve grown.We’ve become more of a fam-ily. I have made it a point thatI, or my designee, be at everysingle Communi ty Watchmeeting. I’ve walked most ev-ery neighborhood, stood on anuntold number of f rontporches , door s teps , andstoops and talked with count-less concerned friends, wor-
ried moms and dads, and many, many caring neighborsabout issues ranging from crime to planning commu-nity clean-up efforts, and have even been grateful to beinvited on in to dinner with many of you. I’ve reportedDistrict 2’s concerns to the appropriate persons andI’ve followed up to make sure nearly all issues are re-solved with satisfactory responses. And, I’ve enjoyedevery minute of it.
We’ve focused on public safety, taking measuresto increase police surveillance and coverage in ourneighborhoods. We’ve worked to make our neighbor-hoods better places to live in by enhancing our beauti-fication and gateway programs. And, we continue tocreate an environment where young professionals arereturning to Fayetteville to begin their careers and startnew families. Even prompting national organizationsto rate our town increasingly higher on many surveysand reports.
But, where we’ve done much work, there remains,still, a great deal more to be done. It is imperative thatthe citizens of District 2 continue to have a voice ofexperience and demonstrated leadership on their side.My continued pledge to you is that I will work to en-sure that all of our communities’ concerns are ad-dressed, and that with time, hard work, and your handin mine, I pledge that our goals will be met.
Again, as I did in 2011 & 2009, I ask for your con-tinued support, and your vote to represent District 2 inFayetteville’s City Council. I will continue to serve asa liaison between all stake-holders and work diligentlywith other council members, the mayor, and the entirecity staff toward reaching our common goal of makingFayetteville an even greater place to “live, thrive, andprosper.”
