•Weight of the item’s and sizes
•Is the security of the stock an issues IE dispatched to controlled drug rooms or out of hours pharmacy
•Spiral chutes are cost effective but not suitable for heavy liquids in bottles
•If sending medicines directly to a floor above a lift system is often the most cost effective way, if the medicines are
only packs an air chute would be quicker
Robot Arm and Stock Movement
Mach4 have a patented pack suction to help secure medicines within the Robot arm. This helps with damaged and weakened packs during the loading process. It also helps when packs are open preventing delays.
Product reading/identification PhotoscannerBarcodes Reader - 2D Data Matrix type GSI smart code.
Robot Arm and Stock MovementThe Robot arms are designed so multipack loading times can be increased.
This is a particularly important feature when utilised with Speedbox as the channels can be loaded in rapid time.
The Photoscanner is also advantage as the sheen on medicines packaging can often render bar code scanning technology impossible. This causes delay in the loading process and an automated process becomes labour intensive.
Fill-In-Door
• With the FILL -IN- DOOR Mach4 offer a truly unique and patented loading process. This allows loading with minimal technician input.
• The FILL -IN- DOOR is unique to all MACH4 Robots IE not available with ARX.
• It is easy to use, each and every employee can fill the wholesale supply chaotically, without having to pay attention to how big the packages are or where a barcode is located.
• When backdated or non stock items are delivered the packs can be processed quickly and be placed into the Fill-In-Box door. Whereas with ARX every pack needs to be manually scanned and placed onto the Robot Conveyor.
Channel and Chaotic LoadingChannel Automation SystemsGravity fed slots that require manual loading
Prone to human error and proven slower loading times meaning technicians are not patient focused
Chaotic Automation SystemsRobot’s built within specialist housing which are designed with optimal shelving. The Robot then dispenses and loads in an unrestricted and automatic way providing great savings in dispensing and loading times.
Only one other manufacturer provides both solutions though the Mach4 Systems have numerous advantages.
Software and Interfacing with Existing Pharmacy Management Systems
It is critical that any Robot introduced to Pharmacy reduces and not increases their workload.
With this in mind, it is important to confirm that Mach4 has vast experience of integration with the most popular software platforms. Typical systems are provided by;

Testimonials
• “We have completely changed the way we have worked – within weeks of installing the robot we were able to get at least 10% more staff time on wards.” Gill Honeywell – St Marys Hospital, Isle of Wight
• “The MACH4 system came out best both in terms of value for money and suitability of design” Joanne Middleton, Southend University Hospital
• “The MACH4 system is well built, reliable and has very little downtime. It has undoubtedly improved the service we can offer by making it quicker and more efficient” Nicola Holt, Royal Brompton Hospital
• “…we have experienced no problems with overnight loading and find it to be very efficient. In fact, due to the increased efficiency of loading in generally coupled with timely management of orders we have found we do not have to leave stock to load overnight as often as anticipated.” “The biggest benefit to automation has been the impact it has had on our working environment and dispensing processes. Automation has improved our efficiency, accuracy and safety. With most of our stock now being stored and picked by the robot, the dispensary imparts a feeling of calm and efficiency. Smooth workflow systems have resulted in an improvement in turnaround times and a reduction in picking errors.” Jan Groves, St James Hospital, Leeds
• Donald has stated that before the robot went live, the Trust held 4 weeks stock. With the robot, the Trust now works to a 2 week stock holding from wholesalers and a 6 week stock holding from manufacturers. This has significantly reduced cost by approximately 25% comparing the value of stock from April/May last year to April/May this year.Donald Moodie, Pharmacy Systems Information's Manager at Homerton Hospital
