LETTERCULT TYPOGRAPHY BRIEF

The reference imagery I used to influence my design. I

wanted the design to have a very geometric look to it.

For this reason I chose to base the typography around

a rubix cube.

LETTERCULT TYPOGRAPHY BRIEF

“LIFE IS TOO SHORT TOO WORK SO HARD”

Above is the quote I will base my poster

on. I like it as a quote, always good to

have a reminder to stop working so hard.

I created a base alphabet for which the letters will later be based on.

I kept to 2D at the moment to speed up the process.

The lettering on 3D cubes. Each letter is placed on all three sides of

the cube.

LETTERCULT TYPOGRAPHY BRIEF

I refined the lettering, twisting certain parts of the cube to make the

typography look more dynamic.

I set the cubes in to the quote. At this point I could begin

experimenting with the layout.

LETTERCULT TYPOGRAPHY BRIEF

The first layout I made for the poster. The cubes are left hanging in

the isometric grid. They look a bit lonely in this poster, I began to

dislike the colours I used on the cubes. They looked a bit washed out,

and detracted from the digital feel I want the design to have.

I adjusted both the colour of the lettering on each cube, and the

background grid from which I constructed the objects. The above image is

the final design I will be submitting to the competition. The black marks

represent where the design will be cut, for this reason photographing a

printed poster will look a lot better.

The final poster can be seen on the left. The poster has been heavily

influenced by the work of DKNG Studios and Milton Glaser.FINALPOSTER
