Let Your Light Shine No-one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the
house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory
to God in heaven. Mt. 5:15-16
Congratulations to Maxx who competed in the
Taekwondo State Championships and won a gold medal
in sparring. Well done!

In very ordinary cold and wet conditions, Charles ran the Schools Victoria State cross
country at midday today. Out of a total of 88 year 12/13 primary boys, Charles came
45th. A fantastic effort and also set a new PB of 9 minutes 28 seconds. Even though
they started in the rain, the course was muddy and more of a challenge than Brimbank,
Charles was still smiling once he got his breath back! It was another fabulous effort
and result!
Teachers who love teaching … teach students to
love learning! Here are some examples of passionate
‘teaching and learning' at St Monica's this week!
Electrical Circuits!
Have you ever thought about what makes a light bulb glow? Do you
know anything about electrical circuits? The Year 6 students were
challenged to try and sequence wires, batteries and a lightbulb to make
a circuit. We look forward to seeing some of their creation throughout
the term!
Materials
Wherever you are right now
…..look around the room! What
materials do you see? Could you
divide them into groups? Maybe
glass, wood, textiles, plastic, metal
…….the Year 3 students began
their new science unit doing just
that!!! What a great tuning in activity!
Coccole Sonore
We all like a great nursery rhyme ….have you tried singing them in
Italian! Visit this website!
Self-portrait Cartoon Style!
To start off their semester in Visual Art, the Year 4 students drew a
cartoon self-portrait? Can you recognise any of these faces!? How
would you draw yourself?
TravellingSmarter
Welcome to our new TravellingSmarter section of the St Monica’s Newsletter, where you will find information, tips and ideas about healthy ways to travel to and from school.
Firstly, a big CONGRATULATIONS to all those students and families who walked or rode to school on our Walk To School Day on May 19. Did you know that on this day 60% of students walked or rode to school? That’s a huge increase, as there are usually about 25% of students who walk or ride. As well as being fit and healthy and alert for the school day, you also earned house points for your team. What a great effort!!
Stay tuned each week as we share information, tips and ideas on travelling smarter and safely to school.

Next Week’s Activities
Program Update Dear Parents and Children, Hello, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Jess and I’m the new Co-
ordinator at your OSHClub service. I have been working with the company since April last year at another program in the Northern Suburbs.
Originally, I’m from a small country town called Rochester (near Echuca). I love to play sport and meet
new people and I hope to incorporate these passions into the service. I'm also a massive Richmond supporter so please don't hold this against me.
I look forward to meeting you all in the coming weeks and please don't hesitate to come up and
introduce yourself.
Take Care, Jess
