2 Summary
The scope of this deliverable is to organize a workshop related to the activities of DiscoGno-sis project and, in general, to Point-of-Care (PoC) platforms. What is aimed through this workshop is:
To disseminate the objectives and technical approach of DiscoGnosis to the scien-tific and technical community.
To network with other EC-funded projects and initiatives in the field.
To enhance exploitation potentials.
To expose the participating audience to the variety of technological platforms availa-ble for PoC applications and to discuss the actual advantages (and/or disad-vantages) in contrast with analyses carried out in centralized laboratories.
3 Background
It was initially reported in the Description of Work (DoW) that the first workshop will take place on month 9, i.e. by the end of July 2013. In the meantime, it was deemed more suitable and efficient for dissemination reasons (and it was agreed by the Project Officer) that the workshop is organized in the form of a satellite event of a larger conference, rather than an independent, stand-alone event at the aforementioned time (which also coincides with vaca-tions period). Besides, the DiscoGnosis coordinator, IMTEK-University of Freiburg, together with the associated HSG-IMIT (Institut für Mikro- und Informationstechnik der Hahn-Schickard-Gesellschaft e.V.), will organize on 28-31.10.2013 the 17th International Confer-ence on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences – MicroTAS”, the largest con-ference in the field of analytical microsystems (www.microtas2013.org). Thousands of people with hundreds of oral and poster contributions are expected to gather in this world class event, thus multiplying the potentials for participating in the DiscoGnosis workshop. That is why it was considered appropriate, and with the acceptance of the Project Officer, that the workshop will be organized as a satellite event of MicroTAS 2013, on 27.10.2013 in Freiburg, Germany.

8 Conclusions and next steps
The workshop attracted a number of 70 participants, which is considered a very large amount and big success, given the fact that the parallel events had a maximum of 10 partici-pants. The organizers provided a booklet to all participants, which included the presentation material of all speakers. Three main aspects of PoC platforms were presented: applications, technologies, and commercialization potentials and the feedback was very positive by the participants and the speakers. The audience was very active, asking questions and network-ing during the break. The next step is the organization of the 2nd workshop, possibly jointly with some conference, like for example the CLINAM 2014, organized by the DiscoGnosis partner CLINAM on 22-25.06.2014 in Basel, Switzerland (to be confirmed).
