Development of Transport in India
India had a very poor transportation system before the British rule. Railways and roadways didn’t even exist in the past. Animals were used for transportation purposes and hence it was quite an expensive mode of transport as we were not aware of the various transportation techniques.
British Age in India
British introduced railways to our Indian transport system. In that era, natural resources were used to run motor engines which were much cheaper as it was complete machine power. Later roadways also developed and hence the transport system became much better than old India.
Google India Celebrated 160 Years of its First Passenger Train Journey on 16th April 2013.
21st Century Transport System
Today, India stands 4th in the longest rail network in the world. Roadways have also flourished to such an extent that it connects to each and every place in India. Rural areas are also gaining access to the metro cities through these transport systems. In short, the development of transport in India has gained a boost over decades along with a change in life and luxury.
