Download - Differentiated ESL Strategies
Introduction One task can be achieved across proficiency levels with adequate scaffolding. Here are two examples of reading and writing strategies.
The first strategy, known as Reciprocal Teaching, is an interactive reading strategy.
The first activity, called Cut and Grow demonstrates students' abilities to expand their writing. This is done by selecting more complex vocabulary and adding details.
Resources and Application
Based on SEI best practices and professional development training, these strategies can be used and adapted for a variety of levels across various contents.
These strategies can be implemented in practice using graphic organizers, visuals, sentence starters and modeling.
