GAS CONNECTIONThe gas supply (service) line must be the same size or greater than the inlet line of the appliance. All cooktops use a1/2” (1.3 cm) I.D. NPT (Sch40) inlet. Sealant on all pipe joints must be resistive to LP/Propane gas.
1. Manual shut-off valve:The installer-supplied valve must be installed in the gas service line ahead of the appliance and regulator in thegas stream and in a position where it can be reached quickly in the event of an emergency. IInn MMaassssaacchhuusseettttss::A “T” handle type manual gas valve must be installed in the gas supply line to the appliance.
2. Pressure regulator:a) All heavy-duty, commercial-type cooking equipment must have a pressure regulator on the incoming service
line for safe and efficient operation, since service pressure may fluctuate with local demand. The regulatorsupplied with the VGSU and DGSU cooktop must be installed before any gas connections are made.NNOOTTEE: TTHHEE RREEGGUULLAATTOORR FFOORR TTHHEE DDGGCCUU IISS AALLRREEAADDYY IINNSSTTAALLLLEEDD IINN TTHHEE UUNNIITT..
b) Manifold pressure should be checked with a manometer; natural gas requires 5.0” WCP and LP/Propanerequires 10.0” WCP. Incoming line pressure upstream for the regulator must be 1” WCP higher than themanifold pressure in order to check the regulator. The regulator used on this cooktop can withstand amaximum input pressure of 1/2 PSI (14.0” WCP). If the line pressure is in excess of that amount, a step-down regulator will be required.
c) The appliance, its individual shut-off valve, and pressure regulator must be disconnected from the gassupply piping system during any pressure testing of that system at pressures in excess of 1/2 PSI (3.45kPa).
d) The appliance must be isolated from the gas supply piping system by closing its individual manual shut-offvalve during any pressure testing of the gas supply piping system at test pressures equal to or less than 1/2PSI (3.45kPa).
3. Rigid Connections:a) Incoming gas is brought from an intake pipe (not supplied) at the rear of the unit to the pressure regulator;
then to the manifold pipe for distribution. The only connection necessary is from the service supply, throughthe shut-off valve (not supplied), to this intake pipe (not supplied) to the regulator supplied, but notconnected through the cooktop. IInn MMaassssaacchhuusseettttss:: This appliance must be installed with a 36” (3-foot) longflexible gas connector.
b) Double-check any installer-supplied intake pipes visually and/or blow them out with compressed air to clearany dirt particles, threading chips, or other foreign matter before installing in a service line. Those particleswill clog orifices when gas pressure is applied.
c) Check the gas supply and the regulator for the proper supply of gas. A properly adjusted burner should bestable and quiet. The flame should have a sharp, well defined blue inner cone with no yellow tipping. Theflame should also be stable and uniform with no flames lifting off the burner ports.
CAUTION: Before placing the cooktop into operation, always check for gas leaks with a soapy water solution or otheracceptable method. DO NOT USE AN OPEN FLAME TO CHECK FOR LEAKS!
LP/Propane ConversionThe VGSU and DGSU models are field convertible to LP/Propane gas or natural gas. The orifice spuds and regulatormust be physically changed. For the VGSU models, order conversion kit NK2VGSU to convert to natural andLPK3VGSU to convert to LP/Propane. For the DGSU models, order conversion kit DLPK to convert to LP/Propane. Gasconversions should be completed by a qualified technician. Refer to instructions in conversion kit for gas conversions.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONThere is no connection necessary beyond plugging the unit into a polarized, grounded, 120 volt, 60 Hz, 15 amp circuit.A minimum of 120VAC is required for proper operation of gas ignition systems. Do not use a GFI circuit. This circuit, however, MUST be grounded and properly polarized. The unit is equipped with 16-3 SPT2 power cord, and if anextension is required, it must be of at least this gauge. NOTE: If electrical power is not supplied or is interrupted, theopen top burners will have to be lit manually with a match.
INITIAL IGNITION OF BURNERSAll cooktops are tested before leaving the factory. Field adjustments may be necessary for proper mixture of gas andair for proper operation. When the cooktop is connected to gas and electrical service, it should be adjusted by aqualified technician. If it is not, contact your dealer for the name of their authorized service agency in your area. Gasconversions and initial installation adjustments are not the responsibility of the manufacturer. To convert the VGSUmodel to LP or natural gas, the orifice spuds and regulator must be physically changed. The proper conversion kitmust be ordered from your authorized service agency or dealer.
PROPER LIGHTING AND SHUTDOWN INSTRUCTIONS1. To ignite the surface burners, turn the knob counter clockwise to any position.2. Upon ignition of the surface burner, turn the knob to the desired position, (HI, Med, or Low).3. To shutdown the burner, turn knob clockwise to the OFF position.4. In case of failure, shut the gas OFF using the installer supplied manual shut-off valve.
FINAL PREPARATION a) New units are cleaned atthe factory to remove any visible signs of dirt, oil, grease, etc. remaing from the
manufacturing process. Some stainless steel parts may have a plastic protective wrapper which must be peeled off.The cooktop should be washed thoroughly with hot, soapy water and then rinsed and wiped dry to remove thesefilm residues and any installation dust or debris before being used for food preparation.
b) All stainless steel body parts should be wiped regularly with hot, soapy water and with a liquid cleanser designedfor this material if build-up occurs. DDOO NNOOTT UUSSEE steel wool, abrasive cloths, cleansers, or powders! If it isnecessary to scrape stainless steel to remove encrusted material, soak with hot, wet cloths to loosen the material, then use a wood or nylon scraper. DDOO NNOOTT UUSSEE a metal knife, spatula, or any other metal tool to scrape stainlesssteel! Scratches are almost impossible to remove.
REPLACEMENT PARTSOnly authorized replacement parts may be used in performing service on the range. Do not repair or replace anypart of the appliance unless specifically recommended in the manual. All other servicing should be referred to aqualified technician.

What to consider when installing a custom panel dishwasher
Bosch dishwashers are designed to be surrounded by standard residential kitchen cabinetry. If the dishwasher is to be
installed in a corner, make sure that there is adequate clearance of 27" to open the door.
For SHV43P13UC, SHV65P03UC, and SHV68P03UC– Minimum opening height: 34" (860 mm)– Minimum opening width: 24" (610 mm) or 23 5⁄8" (600 mm) Wide with decor strips removed
For SHV58E13UC and SHV68E13UC– Minimum opening height: 34 1 ⁄4" (865 mm)– Minimum opening width: 24" (610 mm) or 23 5⁄8" (600 mm) Wide with decor strips removed
Installation options
Custom panel models allow you to have a door panel made to match your
cabinetry. The door panel can be a two-piece design (model 1 ) to look like
a drawer at the top and a cabinet door at the bottom or a single full-length
door (model 2 ). A template is included with the custom panel models to
explain the mounting procedure. Additional templates can be ordered by
calling customer service at 1-800-944-2904.
NOTE: The door springs that are included with the custom panel units will
provide proper function for custom door panels weighing between 9 and
18 pounds. SHV43P13UC, SHV65P03UC, and SHV68P03UC allow you to
adjust the screw tension to accommodate for the weight of the door panel.
SHV58E13UC and SHV68E13UC require no tension adjustment screws as
the hinges self adjust to weights ranging from 9 to 18 pounds.
Water and electrical locations
For proper dishwasher operation and appearance, ensure the enclosure is
square and the openings allow for passage of water, drain and electrical line.
Select a location as close to the sink as possible for easy access to water
supply and drain lines. In order to avoid interference with the dishwasher when
sliding it into the cabinet, place your openings within the dimensions shown.
Plumbing and electrical supply hoses must attach to the dishwasher within the
shaded area.
Note: Plumbing installations will vary – refer to local codes. The maximum
length of the drain hose, including hose leading to air gap (if any) is 150"
(3810 mm). Ensure a portion of the drain hose is raised at least 20" (508 mm)
above the floor to ensure proper draining.
Special consideration for SHV58E13UC and SHV68E13UC
4 1⁄4" x 2" (108 x 52 mm) – To pass the included electrical supply junction box through to an adjacent cabinet 4" x 2" (100 x 50 mm) – To pass the included water supply line to the water supply 1 1⁄4" (32 mm) diameter – To pass the dishwasher drain hose to the drain connection
NOTE: If the incoming electric supply, water supply and drain connections are all in the same cabinet, the one 4 1⁄4" x 2"
(108 x 52 mm) hole will generally be large enough for all three parts to pass through.
The dishwasher electrical supply junction box and dedicated receptacle must be mounted in an accessible cabinet adjacent to the
dishwasher (do not mount the junction box or receptacle behind the dishwasher).
The electrical supply can be connected in one of two ways: 1. Use the included three prong plug and junction box to connect to a dedicated household receptacle. 2. Permanently connect to household or field wiring
