MLC Khursheed Alam whowas the chief guest on the occa-sion gave away the winning tro-phy to the Baramulla team.
Highlighting the importanceof sports, the MLC said it is
important that youth areindulging in sports activities asit is the sports which inculcatevalues of team spirit, and sports-manship in a player.
He said the Government ismaking serious efforts to pro-mote the sports culture in theState by developing infrastruc-ture at various places.
The tournament which sawthe participation of 14 teams hadstarted last month on September25, 2017.

The district level sports eventorganized in the memory of LateD. K. Mahajan, was a first of itskind for the game in the State andwas concluded in the presence ofsenior sports persons andrenowned personalities. ArvindGupta, BJP State treasurer, NalinMahajan, Gourav AroraPresident, PSAJK, Sports OfficerSatish Mahajan and NavneetMahajan, son of late D. K.Mahajan also graced the occa-sion.

JAMMU, Oct 3: Jammu andKashmir Amateur AthleticAssociation conducted selectiontrials to pick the State team forparticipation in 33rd NationalJunior Athletics Championship tobe held at Vijaywada in AndhraPradesh from November 10 toNovember 14, 2017.
The trials were held under thesupervision of Iqbal Singh, coachof J&K State Sports Council.
Over 100 athletes drawn fromvarious districts of the State tookpart in the trials.
The selected probable willattend the coaching camp fromOctober 15 to November 5, 2017,before leaving for the venue onNovember 6, 2017.

KATHUA, Oct 3: Inter-Collegiate Kabaddi (Men)Tournament was inaugurated inan impressive opening ceremonyhere today.
In the inaugural match, MAMCollege defeated GGM ScienceCollege. In a closely foughtmatch, MAM College scored 31points and Science College 25points.
The tournament was inaugu-rated by Prof. Avtar SinghJasrotia, Director, Sports andPhysical Education, Universityof Jammu. About 30 teams areparticipating in the tournament.
In his inaugural speech Prof.Jasrotia congratulated Govt.Degree College (Boys) Kathuafor availing the opportunity oforganizing the tournament.

In an official communiqué issued here, the Associationspokesperson said that all the age-groups, sports persons fromJammu and Kashmir are invited to participate in the coachingcamp for Roller Hockey, Roll-ball and Basic Roller Skating.
"Participants are requested to attend the camp at BakshiStadium from 4 PM onward," the official communiqué said. Thecoaching shall be conducted under the supervision of expertisefrom Jammu and Kashmir Roller Hockey Skaters.
