Amanda DeyerleCD5 – Female – Salem, ORCandidate: Hillary ClintonCommunities: People with Disabilities, YouthPLEO: Chair, Polk County DemocratsDonor: Grassroots Democrats
Statement of Candidacy:
My name is Amanda Deyerle and I am a dedicated Democrat. Currently, I am Chair of the Polk County Democratic Central Committee. During my time as chair, I have had the opportunity to get to know Democrats all around our beautiful state. I have been heavily involved in local elections through fundraising and volunteer efforts. This involvement on the local level has shaped what I believe we need on the national level.
We need someone who understands what is happening in the lives of Americans. We need someone committed to bettering the lives of Americans. We need someone who is willing to go all in and work with allies and opposition to make these things happen. That is why I support nominating Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton has dedicated her life to public service. From her work in the private and public legal sector, to her varied political positions now on her resume, Hillary Clinton is well prepared for the highest political position in our nation, President.
When you return to Oregon from the Democratic National Convention, please tell us in detail what you will do to elect Democrats up and down the ticket in November?
On my return from the DNC, I’ll jump right back into volunteering and fundraising for candidates from the top to the bottom of the ticket. As Chair of the Polk County Democratic Central Committee, getting fellow Democrats elected is always a top priority. I will continue working directly with local campaigns, help state wide campaigns with local offices, or be their conduit in lieu of one. I will also coordinate members of my county party to help with as many of our candidates as possible.

Candidate Statement:
As Hillary supporters, we are active volunteers in many Democratic campaigns. We are PCPs of the Clackamas County Democrats. Rosie is Chair, Kathy and Mary are House District Leaders. Our experiences include working on coordinated campaigns and directly with Presidential, Congressional, State, and Local candidates as well as with the D.P.O. We have continuously worked on progressive issues: Health Care reform, Gun Violence Prevention, Women’s Issues, Raise the Wage campaign, Climate Change, Immigration Reform and Marriage Equality. We have organized and hosted phone banks, voter registration drives, door-to-door canvassing, and have housed two presidential candidate campaign staff for months. As leaders in expanding the Neighborhood Leader Program we have had a significant increase in voter turnout and know “Clackamas County: Is Where The Fight Is! And, we are ready!
When you return to Oregon from the Democratic National Convention, please tell us in detail what you will do to elect Democrats up and down the ticket in November?
Our County Party Mission: “To Elect Democratic Candidates and Promote Democratic Causes and Values” will continue to guide us in recruiting, training and supporting new PCPs and Neighborhood Leaders. To help raise necessary funds and continue our outreach activities, we have two fundraisers scheduled before the election. We pledge to actively do the fieldwork needed to elect and support all Democratic candidates.

Statement of Candidacy:
Since I was a young girl watching debates and National Conventions, I developed a keen interest in the political process and have dreamed about some day attending the National Convention as a delegate. Even though I am new to Clackamas County, I am not new to politics as I have been involved for over 40 years volunteering on various campaigns.
As an immigration lawyer, I have a front row seat to the issues they face. Most DO NOT get the immigration issue correct. It is important to have someone who knows that issue so that at the Convention we get it right.
I have intimate knowledge of other important issues. As a person who returned to law school at a later age I understand the student loan crisis. I also have a brother who suffers from schizophrenia and my mother is the recipient of the NAMI national award for her tireless work at the state level here in Oregon on behalf of families with members with mental illness.
These are just some of the major issues where Democrats can set ourselves apart from the Republicans and make an important difference with key demographics of voters in November.
When you return to Oregon from the Democratic National Convention, please tell us in detail what you will do to elect Democrats up and down the ticket in November?
As a Precinct Committee Person and Neighborhood Leader I have seen where grassroots campaigning can make a difference to get out the vote. As an attorney, everywhere I go I constantly advocate on behalf of issues that impact my immigration and other clients. I also discuss how electing more Democrats that share these values is most important especially in 2016. I plan on continuing with these efforts in the political context so as to elect more Democrats to make a positive difference in the lives of many.

Statement of Candidacy:
Hello, my name is Debbie Kennedy, and I am a lifelong Democrat - my grandmother had a picture of Franklin Roosevelt in her hallway next to a picture of Jesus Christ. My career was spent working for various Unions, as Organizer and Representative - SEIU, IAM, UFCW and finally, AFSCME, Council 75. I loved my jobs! In 1986, SEIU Local 99 sent a group of us to San Diego to work with the famed farmworker Organizer, Marshal Ganz. He and 16 young community Organizers turned out 5,000 minority voters over a six week period of time to elect Maureen O’Connor the new Mayor of San Diego. It was wildly exciting - I was sent to the home of a black woman who had been selected to GOTV in her neighborhood. I just assisted her with anything she needed. I will never forget Marshal Ganz having all the Organizers dance and chant to get hyped to go out every day. And all the butcher paper all over the walls to show the progress of each Organizer.
When you return to Oregon from the Democratic National Convention, please tell us in detail what you will do to elect Democrats up and down the ticket in November?
I prefer to do the grunt work that puts me in contact with regular working voters. I like to phonebank and canvass.

Statement of Candidacy:
After moving to Salem in 2015 I became heavily involved in the Marion County Democratic Party. Recognizing the need to bring more young people into the party, I founded and chaired the Marion County Young Democrats. The group has grown and we now see a steady stream of young people attending the Marion County Dems meetings in much larger numbers.
As the Primary approached I handed off my YD responsibility to others so I could focus on helping Hillary. I reached out to HRC supporters and set up weekly organizing meetings in Salem. Eventually, once the Hillary for Oregon Campaign was on the ground in Oregon, I was offered a formal position with the campaign as the organizer for the Willamette Valley.
I feel incredibly honored to have worked to elect the first woman President of the United States. It is important to me that our candidate continues efforts to empower of the coalition of voters President Obama brought into the party. I am proud to support and cast my vote for Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Join the MACPAC, vote MAC for HRC!
When you return to Oregon from the Democratic National Convention, please tell us in detail what you will do to elect Democrats up and down the ticket in November?
Now that the primary is over I have resumed my work with the Young Dems and the Marion Dems. I was recently elected as a PCP in Marion County and am taking over duties of the Communications Chair. I am invested in the future Salem and the Marion County Democratic Party. I am excited to continue to support Democrats in Salem and Marion County at every level. From the Transit Board to the State Legislature, all the way to the White House. I am currently a supporter and recurring donor to many democratic candidates, WINPAC, and the Bus Project.

Work Experience: Oregon Legislative Assembly. Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division
Union Activity: OPEIU, SEIU, Oregon AFL-CIO (Board and COPE Board), and Teamsters
I have been to National Conventions, but this one is very important to me because I supported HILLARY CLINTON in 2008. I want to vote her as the Nominee of the Democratic Party. I will do everything I can to make sure that she beats Donald Trump and in Oregon we continue to hold all of the state-wide offices and the Legislature.
Past Political Activities: I have been politically active since 1960 and I joined the Marion County DCC in 1968. I served as Chair two times, served on and chaired many committees, and worked for many candidates. I Chaired the 5th CD two times.
As a member of the State Central Committee, I served as Chair of the State Finance Committee and the State Campaign Committee. I was responsible for the first Statewide Coordinated Campaign, including the developing the protocols and candidate agreements prior to putting the plan into action. I have served as County and/or District Chair for many candidates through the years.

Work my precinct to increase registration and turnout; make sure that all Democratic voters have in information needed to vote a Democratic Ticket from Top to Bottom.

Rick Hartwig deserves to represent CD5 in Philadelphia.• Chair, Marion County Dems since 2009• Chair, Local Events and State Fair Committee since 2012• Chair, Check for Democracy County Allocations since 2010• Oregon Democratic Volunteer of the Year Award, 2014
I have for over 6 years endeavored to unite the progressive forces to form a united front to elect Democrats in Marion County and the state. If all Democrats vote, WE WIN.
I strongly support the delegation diversity goals so that our delegation reflects our population. At the same time, let’s not forget the people who have served for the last 4 years and deserve to be delegates to Philadelphia. I believe I deserve that honor and will do everything to make Oregon proud of my selection.
When you return to Oregon from the Democratic National Convention, please tell us in detail what you will do to elect Democrats up and down the ticket in November?
We must unite as a party when we return to Oregon. I have strong relationships to volunteers of both Presidential candidates and am confident we can do that! As county chair, we will get out the vote, unite behind county, state and Federal candidates and channel the enthusiasm of the primary to the general election. When Democrats vote, the State of Oregon wins!

I am committed to assist in multiple races as well as continue involvement with attendance at Polk County and DPO.ORG Central Committees. Paul Evans (Oregon District 20), the only house seat to turn Democratic in 2014 benefitted from my work on signs, phoning, canvassing, and fundraisers...I will work hard to retain Rep. Evans seat for the mid Willamette Valley.

Statement of Candidacy:
I am a full time college student born and raised in Oregon and I have been a die-hard Bernie supporter since day one of his campaign. As a millennial I try to energize the political system with new, active voters and a can-do attitude toward real change. Like most of you I have put in countless hours volunteering for the campaign by canvassing, phonebanking, and registering students to vote. After spring semester I spent the first two weeks of summer campaigning in the critical California primary. In the month before the convention I will work to make the DNC understand that Bernie is the only democrat who can win in the general election. I know that Bernie is the only candidate who truly believes in his policies, who really cares about the issues facing Americans today, and who is deeply concerned about the health of the planet. I have spent the last year fighting for Bernie and with your help I will continue the fight for the working class and our democracy at the national convention.
#bernieorbust
When you return to Oregon from the Democratic National Convention, please tell us in detail what you will do to elect Democrats up and down the ticket in November?
The most important things we can do to help democrats win in November is maximize voter turnout and educate voters about the real issues. The good news is that Bernie has inspired hope and broken much of the cynicism in the progressive voting base, which will greatly help us elect more democrats in November. Personally, I will help by using the connections I have made in the Bernie campaign to encourage voters (particularly in my age group) to vote for democrats in the state legislature. While at the convention I hope to learn from other delegates how to be most effective in my efforts.
