Gauge: 22 sts x 40 rnds = 4” (10 cm) in Ribbed Pattern. 32 sts x 32 rnds = 4” (10 cm) in Prairie Star St. Abbreviations: BO = Bind Off CO = Cast On K = Knit K3tog = Knit 3 stitches together LH = Left Hand P = Purl PM = Place Marker RH = Right Hand Rnd(s) = Round(s) Sl = Slip SM = Slip Marker St(s) = Stitch(es) Tbl = Through the back loop YO = Yarn Over Special Stitches: Italian CO (1x1 Ribbed st): Hold the yarn across your fingers like a slingshot, and place the needle across the bar in the middle of your fingers. Scoop the needle downward and towards your body to twist into the 1st st. Then, take working needle around the outside of the upper strand of yarn, and under the bottom strand. Next, take the needle under and over the bottom strand, and back to the top. Come around the outside of the bottom strand, and through the middle gap. Prairie Star Pattern: Change to US 6 (4.0 mm) circular knitting needles. Rnd 1: K all sts. Rnd 2: *[(Sl 2 as if to knit, pass them back on LH needle, K3tog tbl, YO, K3tog tbl), K1]; repeat from * to end of rnd. Rnd 3: K all sts. Rnd 4: K2, *[(Sl 2 as if to knit, pass them back on LH needle, K3tog tbl, YO, K3tog tbl), K1]; repeat from * to last 2 sts, Sl 2 as if to knit, (remove stitch marker to work Prairie Star pattern across the last 2 sts of the rnd and 1st st of the next rnd), pass 2 slipped sts back on LH needle, K3tog tbl, YO, K3tog tbl. Replace st marker between the 2nd and 3rd st of Prairie Star st. Repeat rnds 1-4, 12 times more. Begin Decreases: Note: Switch to DPNs when necessary.
