'INTRODUCTION
Bilingual education has been established in
New Mexico for nearly 100 years. Time has
affected definition of the what and the how of
bilingual bicu tural education. Responding o
the demand for redefinition, bilingual teachers.
and program directors of northern New Mexico found
it necessa.ry to take a long look at the curriculum
designed to meet tIlle needs of students within the
bilingUal bicultural'seeting. Thereby, necesl-
sitating the drawing together of selected teaching
personnel to redefine curriculum within the
"workshop" setting. ThQ components of particular
interest were: 1) . Reading and Lahguage Arts,
2) . Math, 3). Science, f). Social Science, and
5). Fine Arts. -Throughout the workshop partici-
pants were asked to assist in development of
activities for each of these areas.
