• The purpose of this course is to provide the second year of a sequential three-year course of study in concepts of:– Life Science– Earth Science– Physical Science
• All 7th Grade Science Teachers tend to plan together.
• We will be working in the order of the iScience Course 2 Textbook
•Joined the Doral Academy Family in 2009.
•Bachelor’s of Science degree in Elementary Education.
•Multiple Certifications:– Elementary K-6– Middle grades Science 5-9– Spanish K-12– ESOL endorsement.

• The entire Science Department has switched to percentages instead of point values for grading all assignments this year.
• The following weighted scale will be used to calculate academic gradesIn a regular Class:
40% Exams30% Quizzes20% Labs & Projects10% CW, HL & Participation
In an advanced class: 50% Exams30% Quizzes20% Miscellaneous
• Late work will NOT be accepted. Assignments that are not turned in receive a Z in the grade book.
• Make-up work will only be given when the child’s absence is excused by the office. It is the child’s responsibility to ask for make-up work.
• Both, parents and students are able to view their academic progress through the Dadeschools Portal
Students will be responsible for reading assignments as well. Material covered in the textbook, but not through a class discussion may also appear on exams!!

•Parent Volunteer Hours/Donations– Any supplies turned in, must have a receipt attached, and you
will be credited at 1 hour for ever $3.33 spent.
If you haven’t already done so, please pay $20.00 Science Lab Fee.

• Class rules are displayed all year
• If student chooses not to comply with class rules, disciplinary action will be taken.
• Disruptive behavior can affect an individual student’s, as well as, whole group’s academic grade.
