2014
What a lovely class we are!
Our theme this term is ‘PITTER PATTER PUDDLE PLAY’. This has a
Knowledge and Understanding focus and we are exploring water in its many
forms using the children s’ senses in a range of first hand sensory
experiences. We are providing opportunities for the children to experience
a wide range of activities that explore the properties of water, and the
ways we use water in our everyday lives.
Your child will learn:
-about water in its different forms.
-how water is used in the home
-about being safe near water
-about wet weather including storms.
-about animals that live in ponds and streams.
-how to use volume and measures in practical activities.
-how to record their ideas, feelings and experiences through drawing, mark
making and emergent writing.
-that water is important for seeds and plants.
We had 100% attendance for 4 weeks at the end of last term and we sat
on a Gold table to have our lunch
Mr Rees presented us with a Gold cup.
It was cold and we were worried about how the birds could have food so we
did lots of bird activities.
Mammy and Daddy feeding their babies
We threaded to make nests
We made bird masks and flew around the yard
We made lovely bird food for the hungry birds.
It didn’t smell very nice.
We put some outside for the birds
We pretended we were birds and ate WORMY SPAGHETTI!!!
We put our hands behind our backs and pretended that we had beaks.
WHAT A MESS WE GOT IN TO!!
We coloured in some juicy apples and used our fingers as worms!!
We do AMSER DEWIS a few times a week. A few parents have asked what
this is and have tried to look it up. This is something I have made up so
won’t be on any Google site. YET !!!!!.
This is the children s chance to make their own choices about what they
do. There is a different colour each session and the children choose 3
activities from a choice of 12.They then at the end of the session have to
say what activities they have done and we then look to see if it matches
with what they chose. The reward is a sticker.
The children love this session and this is them at it !!.
A lovely activity to do at home.
Small pots with milk and a drop of food colouring.
‘Paint ‘ a picture on to the bread depending on the weeks activities.
Toast the bread.
Children to butter it and EAT IT!!!
We learn our numbers and number facts through lots of practical activities.
We love to play games and sing songs using number masks.
We tasted different flavoured ice creams.

We planted Daffodil bulbs for Marie Curie Cancer Care.We are hoping to
collect some money to give to Macmillan Nurses.
We made our own Daffodils.
We do Write Dance to help us with our letter formation. We use streamers
to form the letters and use exciting music.
We draw our shapes to music.
We had a WORMY P.E lesson. Wriggly worms in our Parachute.
Birds had laid an egg.
We turned ourselves into a very long worm
Balancing on the worm
On a lovely day!!!!!!!!! We went to Remos Ice Cream parlour on Aberavon
beach. We had a look at the different flavours and colours of Ice cream
and we saw how the customers ordered and bought ice creams. We decided
that maybe it wasn’t as nice as our ice cream parlour in class!.
It was a bit windy on our way to the park. We had fun.
Then on to Mcdonalds for a yummy lunch.
Quite a few strangers came up to us staff on their way out and said they
couldn’t believe how well behaved and well mannered the children were. This
is the behaviour they know we expect from them and we were so proud of
them.
All tired out after a fun day.
We tasted different flavoured squash.
Orange, lemon and blackcurrant.
We are very clever in Dosbarth Meithrin as we know how to fill in and read
graphs on the interactive whiteboard.
We found out that blackcurrant was our favourite flavour. We will be
making ice lollies out of different flavours.
I dreamed I stood in a studio
And watched two sculptors there
The clay they used was a young child’s mind
And they fastened it with care.
One was a teacher,
The tools she used were books and music and art;
One was a parent
With a guiding hand and a gentle loving heart.
And when at last their work was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought,
For the things they had worked into the child
Could never be sold or brought.
And each agreed she would have failed
If she had worked alone.
For behind the parent stood the school,
And behind the teacher stood the home.
