Recall that Bohr proposed that electrons were located in circular orbits (called energy levels) around the nucleus, similar to the orbits of the planets around the sun. Each ring or shell fills until full and there were seven rings.
Heisenberg developed his uncertainty principle, which stated that it is impossible to know exactly where rapidly moving particles, like electrons, are at any single moment. One can only make guesses as to an electron’s probable position.
