ABSTRACT The object of this project is to drive the car with help of

PC. “The car, using a wide variety of sensors will be easilyable to detect pedestrians, objects which will allow the carto slow or stop suddenly. As a computer is far more preciseand subject to fewer errors than a human, accident ratesmay reduce when these vehicles become available toconsumers. This driverless technology would lead to fewertraffic jams and safer roads.”

INTRODUCTION

Driver error is the most common cause of traffic

accidents.

India contributes 6%of the world’s road accident

deaths.

Cell phones in car, entertainment system, more traffic and more complicated road systems making it more frequent.

By this improving technology our car will do the concentrating for us.

Page 5: Driverless car

What is a driver less car? It is a vehicle that can drive itself from one point

another without assistance from a driver, in other words, with an autopilot system

Page 6: Driverless car

How will the car detect the traffic lights ?

A sensor “actinometer” is user to detect the intensity of radiation.

Light of different colors will radiate different to different intensity of radiation.

which will be detected by sensor,

If the detected intensity is of red color or yellow color then the controller will send a command to stop the vehicle.

The command will be followed by robot(to convert the computer command into mechanical input)

ANTI-LOCK BREAKING SYSTEMAn ABS generally offers improved vehicle control and decreases stopping distances on dry and slippery surfaces for many drivers.

CRUISE CONTROL

Cruise control keeps the car at a constant speed by taking over the throttle of the car,it also maintaina set distance between it and the car in front of it.

Page 12: Driverless car

Lane departure warning system

A mechanism designed to warn a driver when the vehicle begins to move out of its lane. Designed to minimize accidents by addressing the main causes of collisions, driving error, distraction and drowsiness.

Page 13: Driverless car

Self-parkingSystem uses sensors all around the car to guide it into a parallel parking spaceLexus LS 460l with advance parking guidance systemThe driver has to find a parking space Position the car next to it, and use the in-cabin navigation screen to tell the car where it should go.The parking space needs to be 6 feet (1.8 meters)longer then car

Page 14: Driverless car

Backup camera & parking sensors

Special type of video camera attached to the rear of a vehicle to a vehicle to aid in backing up.

Parking sensors are proximity detectors which can alert driver to unseen obstacles during parking.

Page 15: Driverless car

As automotive technology matures, more and morefunctions of the underlying engine, gearbox etc are nolonger directly controlled by the driver by mechanicalmeans.

It controlled via a computer, which receives instructionsfrom the driver as inputs and delivers the desired effect bymeans of electronic throttle control, so that the technology of

computer handle the vehicle.

Page 16: Driverless car

Automated guided vehicle systems

Uses FROG (Free Ranging On Grid) Technology.FROG vehicles are equipped with a computer that

contains a map of the area.

Page 17: Driverless car

Advantages: Managing traffic flow to increase road capacity To avoid accidents The current location of vehicle can be determine by using G.P.S

Disadvantages: If the vehicle is using internet which have less security then from the hackers point of view some cases the vehicle con be switched off on the road (rear cases)

CONCLUSION

The driver less car’s technologies improves vehicle’s stability helps to minimize lose of control.

Driver less cars are designed to minimize accidents by addressing the main causes of collisions, driving error, distraction and drowsiness
