Dr.Web AV-DeskisaSoftware-as-a-Service(SaaS)businessmodelthathelpsprovidersattractnewcustomersandincreaseprofits.ItisanInternetserviceforthedeliveryofanti-virusandanti-spamsecurityservicestoanunlimitednumberofsubscribers.Itisalsosoftwarethatpermitscentralizedmanagementofthedeliveryprocess.
Dr.Web Anti-virus Service(Service)isatime-limitedright(License)tousetheprotectivefeaturesofDr.WebsoftwaretoprotectthePCsofServicesubscribers.
A Service User(Customer,Subscriber)isanynaturalorlegalpersonthathassignedasublicenseagreementregardingdeliveryoftheServicethroughitsProvider.
Service suppliers:
• ServiceProvider(Provider)isalegalpersonthatdeploysDr.WebAV-Deskanddeliversthe Dr.Web Anti-Virus Service to end-users. The Provider does not have the right tosublicenseDr.Websoftware.
• A Dr.Web AV-Desk Service Aggregator (Service Aggregator) is a legal person thatdeploysDr.WebAV-DeskonitsownserversandcreatesanetworkofresellerstowhomitsublicensestheSubscriptionControlCenter. TheServiceAggregatorcannotdelivertheServicetoend-users.
• Dr.Web Anti-Virus Service Reseller (Service Reseller) is a legal person that providessubscriptionstotheDr.WebAnti-VirusServicetoend-usersbymeansoftheSubscriptionControl Center which is integrated into the Service Reseller’s web site. The ServiceResellerdoesnothavetherighttosublicensetheprovisionofsubscriptions.
Dr.Web AV-Desk Project History
Dr.WebAV-DeskisaninnovativeInternetservicecreatedbyDoctorWeb.ItsfirsttestlaunchwasconductedinNovember2007attheserversofoneofMoscow'slargestproviders−CorbinaTelecom.
Dr.WebAV-DeskisthethirdimplementationofthesoftwareproductthatDr.Webprogrammers,ledbyIgorDanilov,initiatedin2002fortheRussiangovernment.
Programmershadbeengivenaverydifficultandimportanttask—todevelopanti-virussoftwareforworkstationsandserversthatwouldfeatureacentralizedadministrationtoolandfunctionintheStateElectionSystem.Oneofthesystemcomponents(thecontrolcenter)wastobedeployedattheRussianCentralElectionCommissionandtheother(designedtoprotectworkstations)atthe regional offices of the GAS «Vybory» (Elections) network which number in the thousands.Theproject(thefirstpublicbetatest)wasdeliveredtoastatepanelofexpertsatthebeginningof 2003. The first installation was performed in the testing environment of Voskhod ResearchInstitute, the main developer of the State Election System. The testing was successful, and thesolutionwasdeployedintheGAS«Vybory»systeminautumnofthatyear.Ithasbeenperformingsuccessfullyeversince.
OnAugust19,2004,DoctorWebdeliveredanotherincarnationoftheproduct:Dr.WebEnterpriseSuite,asolutiongearedtowardtheanti-virusconsumermarket.Itquicklybecamethe«bluechip»amongDr.Webproducts.

Billing and Fee Collection A billing system is integrated into the core of the Subscription Control Center and includes twosubsystems:

Prepayment cards IntheSubscriptionControlCenter,Providerscangenerateanynumberofcardactivationcodesandplacetheirlogosoncardmodelsofvariousvalues(3,5,10and25EURO).Theresultingfileisreadyforprinting.
CardscanbemadeavailableasvirtualcardsontheProvider’swebsite(note:abalancerefillpagetemplateisincluded),viapaymentterminals,orthroughthewebsitesofthosewhoparticipateintheProvider’saffiliateprograms.
Service Management
Accessing Subscription Control CenterIftheServiceisprovidedtoabusinesscustomer,accesstotheSubscriptionControlCenterisgrantedtoseveralemployeeswithinthesubscribingcompanywhohavebeenselectedbythestaffmemberauthorizedtomakesuchdecisions.
IftheServiceisprovidedtoahomecustomer,accesstotheSubscriptionControlCenterisgrantedtoeachcustomer.
Access to the subscription module must be restricted, i.e. it can be made accessible only in thesubscriber’sPersonalArea.
Customer Access to the Trial Version of the Service SoftwareIntroducingatrialperiodwhencustomerscantrytheServicesoftwarefreeofchargeisessentialin developing a positive attitude towards the Service among subscribers. A Service Provider forbusinessescangivecustomersaccesstothefullyfunctionaltrialversionoftheServicesoftwareinthe“Try”sectionofitswebsite(note:atemplateisincluded).AServiceProviderforhomeuserscanmakethetrialversionoftheServicesoftwareaccessibletoitssubscribersintheirPersonalArea.

AnagreementconcludedwithaServiceProvidercontainsaclausestipulatingthatatrialperiodisrequired.ProvidersarenotchargedfordeliveringtheServicetoacustomerduringatrialperiod.
A trial period (see the “Trial Period” field) can be enabled in the Subscription Control Center’sadministrationpanel.BothhomeandbusinesscustomerscanbeallowedtotrytheServicefreeofcharge.IftheServiceisprovidedtohomeusersonly,aprovidercan1)introduceanddelivertheServicewithoutafreetrialperiod,and2)letuserstrytheanti-virussoftwareforupto30days.IftheServiceisprovidedtobusinesscustomers,afreetrialperiodofupto30daysisrequired.
Subscribing Asubscribersignsup for theService in theSubscriptionControlCenteronhisProvider’s server.Hecansetsubscriptionparametersasheseesfit,renew,suspend,orterminatehissubscription.Subscriptions can be from 1-36 months in duration. With the automatic renewal feature, asubscription period can be prolonged indefinitely unless the customer chooses to terminate it. TheDr.WebAnti-VirusServicegivesacustomeravirtuallyendlessanti-viruslicenseonaninstallmentplan.
Subscribing for the ServiceTosubscribetotheService,acustomermustdothefollowing:
1. SignupfortheServiceintheSubscriptionControlCenter.
2. Usethedownloadlinkreceivedfromtheprovidertodownloadtheinstaller.
3. LaunchtheinstallerandinstalltheDr.Websoftware.
4. Rebootthesystemandwaitwhiletheanti-virusconnectstotheanti-virusserveroftheServiceProvider.Thecustomerisnowanofficialsubscriber.

Suspending a Subscription

How Suspensions Become Effective
• IfthecustomerpaysfortheServiceonadailybasis,thechangewillbecomeeffectiveonthesamedayhesuspendshissubscription.
• IfthecustomerpaysfortheServiceonamonthlybasis,thechangewillbecomeeffectiveonthefirstdayofthesubsequentcalendarmonth.
Resuming Subscription
• Thesubscriptioncanberesumedwithinone,two,orthreecalendarmonthsfollowingthesuspensiondate.Iftheautomaticrenewalservicehadbeenactivatedearlier,itwillbecomeoperationalagain.
While the subscription is suspended, its status in the Subscription Control Center is displayed as“Suspendedtill[DATE]”.TheDr.WebServicesoftwareisnotremovedfromthesubscriber’scomputerbutbecomesnon-operationaloncethesystemisrebooted.Theuserisperiodicallysentreminderstoresumehissubscription.
Automatic RenewalAsubscriptionisresumediftheautomaticrenewalservicewasactivewhenitwassuspended.Thesubscriptionisresumedunderthetermsthatwereineffectbeforethesuspension.
Subscription TerminationAsubscribercanterminatehissubscriptionintheSubscriptionControlCenteratanytime.However,thefollowingshouldbetakenintoconsideration:
• Ifdailychargingisineffect,thesubscriptionwillbeterminatedimmediately.
• IfthecustomerpaysfortheServiceonamonthlybasis,thesubscriptionwillremainactivetilltheendofthecurrentcalendarmonth.Moneypaidinadvancebythesubscriberisnotrefunded.
Oncethesubscriptionisterminated,theDr.Websoftwareonthesubscriber’scomputerbecomesnon-operationalafterthesystemisrestarted.TheinstallerdownloadlinkintheSubscriptionControlCenter will become hidden; however, all the information needed to generate another installerremainsstoredon theserver indefinitely. Ifacustomersubscribesagain, thedownload linkwillbecomeavailable.
Resuming a Subscription after Termination Onceasubscriberselects“Activate”,hissubscriptionresumesasifitwasanewsubscription,andthedownloadlinkisdisplayedagain.Theautomaticmonthlyrenewalserviceisalsoenabledifithadbeenactivebeforethesubscriptionwasterminated.

Subscriber Technical SupportAsubscribercansubmitsupportrequestsviatheServicesoftwareinterface.Select“Support”inthecontextmenuoftheDr.WebAnti-Virus.
Thesubscriberwillbedirectedtothe“Support”sectionoftheDoctorWebwebsitewherehewillbeabletoaskforsupportandgetareply.
Ifnecessary,asubscribercangenerateanti-virusreportseasily,withasingleclickofthemouse,andsubmitthemforanalysis.
