I had been crying for Swami…
27 April 2008 Meditation
Swami: Why are you crying like this? Shall I tell you
something? When someone asked you, „How
does it feel to be in the witness state?‟ How did
you reply? You said, „I am always in the same
state… only crying‟. In the same way, although I
am in the witness state, I worry thinking of you. It
is only for the sake of others that we remain in the
witness state. In this state, there is no action, yet
feelings still exist. This is because Prema is our
very nature. How can Prema not be there? You
always think of Me and cry. In the same way,
wherever I am, I am always thinking of you.
We cannot live without showering Prema on each
other.
End of meditation
Swami asked me to remain in the witness state. Someone
asked me, “How does it feel to be in the witness state?” I
replied, “I am always in the same state, crying.”
From my first book till now, Swami has shown many dif-
ferent states of attainment. Earlier, He said that I was
Radha, Mahalakshmi, Saraswathi, Parvathi, Durga and
Brahma. Now He is showing the Brahman state, sankalpa
state and state of Witness.
In the same way, many things happened in my life, but
nothing could change me. From birth to now, I am crying
and yearning only for God. This is my state. There is
only one state, one thirst, ‘I want God’. Nobody could
survive remaining in this state. The life force would leave
their body or they would become mad. Nobody could
bear the endless suffering I experienced over the last
seventy years. It is due to this suffering and anxiety that I
cannot eat properly.
If one is in the Witness state, he would remain at peace.
One who is in this state, can only be a Witness. I am
unable to be like this.
Swami is in the Witness state for others. In my case,
Swami‟s feelings are only expressed inwardly, there is
no action outside.
In the Witness state, Prema feelings do not function or
come into action. They remain as they are, part of our
nature. Prema feelings are the true nature of Swami and
I. We are in the Witness state where others are con-
cerned; there is no outward expression between us.
We cannot do anything for each other.

Virat Purusha … (Cont.) (Continued from Page 2)
However, we cannot stop the feelings of Prema that we
have for each other, which pour from within us.
‘Oh heart! Now I am in the witness state, the God state, do
not think of Swami.
Oh eyes! Now I am in the witness state, do not cry thinking of
Swami…’
I cannot order my heart and eyes in this way! Prema is our
nature. I shower Prema on Swami and Swami shows His
Prema to me. This is our nature. Swami often asks me,
“Why do you only like this form?” I cannot tell why.
7th May, 2008 - Evening Meditation
Swami: Why do you have so much Prema for this form?
Vasantha: What magnet do You have?
Swami: Our relationship is not ordinary. It is not birth
to birth or age to age, it is permanent. We are insepa-
rable. We come from the One, as two. We two are
One.
Vasantha: Swami, what is our connection? It is not
only feelings… it is puzzling. It is something else.
Please tell me…
Swami: We are the Virat Purusha. We are the One
becoming two. Now write about this. We have to
change this age into a new yuga. As we are the Virat
Purusha, you are yearning like this.
End of meditation
God willed creation. Immediately after this sankalpa,
the sound Om emerged. Thereafter came the Virat
Purusha. What is Virat Purusha? It is the male and
female aspects of God in a state of embrace. This
Virat Purusha then separated into individual man and
woman and creation was born.
In the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, a groundnut is used
to explain the Virat Purusha form. The two parts of the
peanut symbolize the Virat Purusha.
Earlier in my writing on Virat Purusha, I used the ex-
ample of the fight between Bhima and Jarasandha.
During the battle, Bhima tore Jarasanda‟s body into
two pieces and threw them on the ground. Immedi-
ately the two pieces began rolling towards each other
and rejoined. In this way, Swami and I are two
halves, yearning to unite. However, the connection
is not only through feelings.
I have written in an earlier book that though the forms
of Swami and I are different, our feelings remain the
same. The feelings of Sri Krishna, Sathya Sai, Prema
Sai and the feelings of Radha, Vasantha and Prema are
the same. The forms may differ, but the feelings are
the same. In my case, it is not the oneness of feelings
alone; Swami and I are the Virat Purusha form. We
share the Virat Purusha feeling for creation. Radha
and Prema do not have these feelings, so I am differ-
ent from them. (Continued on Page 4)

9 May 2008 Morning meditation
Vasantha: Tell something about the Vi-
rat Purusha.
Swami: It is like two halves of a ground-
nut. Dal has two halves and the seeds
from trees and plants. If the seed sepa-
rates into two, it will not sprout. The life
force is where the two halves meet. This
power causes the seed to germinate. In
the same way, the Virat Purusha has two
parts, the male and female aspect. The
creation emerges from them.
Vasantha: Swami, why did You say, “If I
become an ordinary man, demon or
God…”
Swami: Whichever form I take, you
want to be with Me only. You want to be
all that I am, wherever I am. This is life
force and energy, Shiva Shakthi. It is the
Indweller and Kundalini power. It is
Sathya and Prema. It is God and His
Chitshakthi. It is omnipresence and om-
nipotence. Radha desired this Oneness.
Vasantha: Now I understand. If You are
the eyes, I am the light of the eyes. If
You are the ocean, I am the wave.
Wherever You are, I am.
Swami: You have demonstrated that
God and Creation are the same. There
is no difference. They are the same.
End of meditation
Swami asked, “If I suddenly became an
ordinary man, what would you do? I
want only God. However, if the God I
worship became an ordinary man, I
would want only Him. If He becomes a
demon, I would want to be like Him, a
demoness. This is how much I love
Swami. If He is God, man or demon, I
want only Him. If He is peacock, I am
peahen. If He is lion, I am lioness. What-
ever form He takes, I will take that
form.
There is something in Him that
completely overpowers me. What
can I do? Swami kindles me to reveal
my innermost feelings. Where,
where Swami is; there, there I want
to be. This is the secret of the Vasan-
thamayam creation. He is omnipres-
ent, I am His omnipotence. The life
force and power of action are not
different. This is Being and Becom-
ing. This is the omnipresence of
Sathya and Prema. It is the omni-
presence God and His omnipotent
Shakthi, a state where the Indweller
and Kundalini shakthi are function-
ing everywhere.
The mind is a fertile field for ig-
norance. Do not seek more and
more comfort and convenience,
instead, seek wisdom.
The dust of sense-craving accu-
mulates on the mind producing
rust and threatening to „burst‟ it!
To remove the rust in your mind,
listen to soulful compositions
from great saints like Tyagaraja,
Tukaram, Eknath, etc.
Be always joyful, optimistic and
courageous. When God is within
you, why do you lose hope? That is
why the Lord says, “Why fear,
when I am here?”. Despair is a sin
against God.
Do not continue to add things
that bind you. Bind yourself to
the great liberator, God.
O Goddess, Help us, Help us, Help us. Helo us fvr having Swami’s name in vur lios
And Swami’s fvrm in vur heartx Helps us to be aware that Swami is the goal of our life.

Reason for Sadhana
S wami says sadhana means endless longing. In the book
„Sadhana the Inward Path‟ He says, “Radha is the Be-
coming and Krishna is the Being, the desire of the Being to
Become, the longing of the Becoming for the Being is the
Radha Krishna relationship.”
This is the relationship that is sung and glorified by all devo-
tees. Sri Krishna the Being, desires to become Radha. After
attaining the form of Radha, He yearns to return to His origi-
nal state. From this, we understand that Radha and Krishna
are one and the same.
Desire is an ordinary feeling. All that we wish for in the
worldly sphere can be called „desire‟. Desire descends from
a higher level to the lower level. It is because of desire that
Sri Krishna Himself came down as Radha and then again
longs to return to His original state. Desire pulls us down
into the material world. Yearning and longing takes us up.
Deep longing for God helps us to attain Him.
My life is such a life of longing. All the many paths of sadhana
I have taken up are dictated by my yearning to become one
with God. Since I am always immersed in God-
consciousness, my mind seeks out new ways and means to
experience Him. This thirst is the reason for sadhana and
more sadhana!
I pray to Swami, “Swami, You should
never forsake me.”
Swami says, “How many times will you tell me this. You always say the same thing.”
I reply, “Once daily I make sure that you
will not leave me.”
I am very cautious that I don‟t let Bhagavan
slip away. I am very careful in this regard. My whole mind is focused on safeguard-
ing this precious Sai treasure; the treas-
ury of love, the treasury of bliss, the Lord of
Prema. Just as a poor man would safeguard
his newfound treasure, I am always very careful not to lose this invaluable gem of
Sai...my life runs toward God faster than
the flowing Ganges. It will not stop for any-
body‟s sake. Bhagavan is mine, my life, my
only goal.
Bhagavan - My treasure

Get away from Body Consciousness
I t is important to remember – the impermanence of the
body and the permanence or eternal nature of the
Atma. From early life we are made to have only body
awareness. No one tells us anything about the Atma. Conse-
quently, our focus is on bodily wants and needs, beauty,
food, exercise, physical health and sense orientated experi-
ence. Does this last for long? The physical body is here but a
„minute‟.
Know you really are the eternal Atma. What beautifies the
Atma? Good thoughts, good words and good deeds. Today
people want to give their children vitamins and tonics. Such
attention encourages them to think of themselves only as the
physical body. They neglect to make the children aware of
the more important knowledge of one‟s inner beauty and
strength. Make Baba’s name the ‘vitamins’ for the Atma.
Nutrition for the Atma comes from bhajan, meditation, repeti-
tion of the name and constant remembrance of God. Yogis
live on meagre food and are sustained by thoughts of God.
How is this? Only when we leave body consciousness can we
really begin thinking about God. To reduce body conscious-
ness, start by remembering that this body is not permanent.
As Swami often reminds us, you are not just a water bubble.
The body loses its ability to heal itself by becoming overly
dependent on outside medicines and treatment. If you are
sick, pray to Bhagavan for help and let Him be your doctor.
Avoid looking at yourself excessively in the mirror. This
can help to diminish body awareness. The common greeting
nowadays is, “How are you feeling?” Instead begin
focusing on the spiritual and eternal aspects and
ask, “How is your sadhana?”
The body is an instrument we use to know God. If it
is used otherwise, attachment will arise and im-
prison us in mundane worldly life. Use the body
like a necessary tool, as if it were an instrument
in the kitchen. You pick it up, it performs the task
and then you put it back on the counter.
How do we gain the knowledge of the Atma? Most
of our time is spent in getting an education and
then in performing work at our home or office. All
other karmic achievements are nothing in compari-
son to separating the mind from the Atma. In other
words, the most important work in life is learning
who you really are by acquiring knowledge of the
Divine. Even when man goes to the moon what
does he bring back? He gathers some dust and
rocks and returns. What a waste of valuable re-
sources? Man spends so much energy on external
things but does not know a thing about himself,
who he really is or where he is going! Man is now
mounting great efforts to reach Mars but I have
travelled there and many other places with Swami
without leaving home.
Everything is within us. Seek and find!
F rom the male and female, all creation begins. I am al-
ways saying ‘I want Swami, I love You’, this is the seed.
My chastity is the skin of the seed.
From the seed, the life force of Prema sprouts. The mantra,
‘Om Sri Sai Vasantha Saiesaiya Namaha’, forms the stem,
branches and leaves. This means it is an ‘Om Sri Sai Vasantha
Om Sri Sai Vasantha Saiesaiya Namaha Saiesaiya Namaha’ plant, ‘Om Sri Sai Vasantha Saiesaiya Na-
maha’ branch, ‘Om Sri Sai Vasantha Saiesaiya Namaha’ leaf.
The feelings of Swami and I is the life force, which create the
plants, branches and leaves. This mantra is the Virat Purusha
mantra. Therefore everywhere Sathya Sai and Vasantha’s are
born.

I n continuation from the last month‟s article, the
prayer songs composed by Sri Adi Shankara-
charya for the mercy of Sri Sri Lakshmi-Narasimha is
given below.
In the broad ocean of material existence I am
broken and smashed again and again by the
powerful waves of my accumulated attachments.
Grasped in the jaws of the fearful crocodile of the
external time factor, I am pierced, ripped apart, and
swallowed. O Lakshmi-Nrisimha, please bless me
with the touch of Your lotus hands .
O all-powerful, ocean of mercy, cast Your
glance upon me. I am bewildered, helplessly
sinking in the sea of samsara. You descended to re-
move the distress of your devotee Prahlada Maha-
raja. O Lakshmi-Nrisimha, please bless me with the
touch of Your lotus hands .
O Murari, I have fallen into the pit of material
existence and I am wandering just like an ani-
mal greatly tormented by fear of horrible
death that awaits him. Distressed and miserable, I
am burnt by envy. O Lakshmi-Nrisimha, please
bless me with the touch of Your lotus hands .
Binding me with ropes, the servants of Ya-
maraja drag me to his abode, beating me
severely along the path. Bound by material exis-
tence in hundreds of ways, I stand alone, helpless
and trembling, under the influence of the superior
force of daiva maya. O Lakshmi-Nrisimha, please
bless me with the touch of Your lotus hands
You are the Lord of Lakshmi and the master
of the demigods. O Vishnu, Your navel is just
like a lotus. You are the Lord of sacrifice and the em-
bodiment of sacrificial performance. O Madhusu-
dana, Vishvarupa, You are always favorably dis-
posed to the brahmanas. O Keshava, Janardana,
Vasudeva, O Lakshmi-Nrisimha, please bless me
with the touch of Your lotus hands .
In one of Your four hands You hold the Sudarshana
disc and in another a conch. With another You em-
brace Lakshmi, who was born from the milk ocean,
and with another on the left You bestow fearlessness. The
palm of that hand which is raised to give the benediction is
marked with the lotus symbol. O Lakshmi-Nrisimha, please
bless me with the touch of Your lotus hands
Although I was very wealthy, I am blind and without
discrimination. I have been robbed of my great
treasure (God consciousness) by the thieves known as the
senses. Despite all my attempts to appease them with differ-
ent types of offerings, they have thrown me into the pit of
illusion and darkness. O Lakshmi-Nrisimha, please bless me
with the touch of Your lotus hands .
You reside in the hearts of the best devotees such as
Prahlada Maharaja, Narada Muni, Parashara Muni,
Pundarika, Vyasadeva and others. You are very fond of Your
devotees and You are their parijata tree of protection. O
Lakshmi-Nrisimha, please bless me with the touch of Your
lotus hands .
This prayer, bestowing auspiciousness in this world, has
been composed by Shankaracharya, who is a honeybee in
the lotus flower of the
feet of Sri-Sri Lakshmi-
Nrisimha.
Those who read this
prayer with devotion to
Lord Krishna attain the
shelter of Sri Sri Lak-
shmi-Nrisimha‟s lotus
feet and also attain
their eternal spiritual
form, which is never
annihilated

She is the “ONE”
The entire universe will be filled with my calls of Prema.
I will drink the beauty of the Lord through the eyes of the entire world.
I will rejoice looking at Him through all eyes.
I will pray to my Lord with the folded hands of everyone and serve at
His lotus feet.
My Prema shall permeate everywhere.
I will be everywhere.
I will be present in every part of creation.
All the 580 crores of people in the world will be Vasantha, all only
Vasantha.
I first came to know about Amma Sri Vasantha Sai in
July of 2001 through Her book, - Liberation, Here Itself,
Right Now! The book invoked an indelible urge in me to meet
Amma. On September 24th, 2001 I had the Darshan of
Amma for the first time in Her home in the village of Vada-
kammpatti, Tamil Nadu.
Ever since then, I have been blessed to have some degree of as-
sociation with Amma Sri Vasantha Sai and I have realized
that “She is the One”. You can Call Her Adi Shakthi, Or The
Holy Spirit, The Divine Feminine Principle, Cosmic Mother, or
whatsoever suits your wont. She is all this and more. How
much more and what more She is, needless to say is unfa-
thomable. The enormity of these words could astound some.
An astute sadhaka or spiritual aspirant who might come to
visit Amma with the above allegories in mind should only be
wary of what he or she might be taken by when one meets Her.
She is Akilanda Koti Brahmanda Nayaki, The Cos-
mic Mother. However, Her appearance and demeanor
is an exact contrast to what one might envisage
given the above connotations. Amma is an epitome
of humility. The Divine Feminine Principle adorns
the garb of a very simple, modest, down to earth
village woman. This perhaps makes it more difficult
to cognize who she really is. “She is the One”.
