Structures demolished at Rajinder Bazar to Talab Khatikan
A joint demolition drive has been conducted by District Administration
under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu alongwith
Joint Commissioner (A), Jammu Municipal Corporation, Administrator Auqaf,
Deputy Custodian, Jammu with senior officers of these departments
alongwith subordinate staff. During the drive two nos. of double storey
commercial cum residential structures, one pacca wall and a khokha have
been demolished, which come in the way of widening of road from Rajinder
Bazar to Talab Khatikan.
The occupants of these structures posed a tough resistance but with
the timely intervention of police force, which was present there in a large
number, the task was accomplished successfully. The demolition operation
has been conducted by pressing the men and machinery and with the
cooperation and assistance provided by the police force led by Sub Divisional
Police Officer City alongwith Station House Officers of Police Station City and
Peer Mitha, Jammu.

PRESS RELEASE
In continuation to de-silting drives of various big nallahs/deep drains within the limits of
Jammu Municipal Corporation, today on 10.05.2016, the de-silting drive was started in Shakti Nagar
Nallah under the able guidance of Ms. Mandeep Kaur, IAS, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal
Corporation. The men and machinery were deployed in Shakti Nagar Nallah for de-silting of the
same. This special drive will continue for another 15 days, 7 days for de-silting of up-stream and 7
days for de-silting of down stream of Shakti Nagar Nallah. During de-silting Shakti Nagar Nallah, a
large number of people gathered at the spot and appreciated the efforts taken by Jammu Municipal
Corporation for mitigating their sufferings which they have been facing since long due to overflowing
of Shakti Nagar Nallah, on both sides of the nallah there is huge building structures which are
creating hurdles in de-silting of the said nallah. A water channel has been developed by JMC for de-
silting of portion of the nallah. Last year due to overflowing of Shakti Nagar Nallah there was loss to
property of the adjoining houses, as water was entered into the houses adjoining to the Nallah.
Learning from the past experience this year, JMC has taken timely action to de-silt the Shakti Nagar
Nallah well before the onset of monsoon season. In the current yhear, JMC has started the de-
silting operation of 14 big nallahs and number of tributaries from 1st February, 2016 so that JMC can
finish the task of de-silting of various nallahs well before the onset of monsoon season. Upto this
time since starting of de-silting operation JMC approximately de-silted number of nallahs and
collected upto 70,000 mt. tones garbage from these nallahs.
The whole operation is led by the dedicated officer Mr. Talat Mehmood Khan, Chief Transport
Officer, JMC alongwith his team. Every day JMC is receiving appreciation from the residents of
different areas and assurance that they shall extend their cooperation to JMC for de-silting process.
As per schedule, the JMC will continue the de-silting process upto ending June, 2016
Sh. R.S. Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (A), JMC appealed the general public that not to throw
garbage, plastic goods and other household material in nallahs as it is a main cause of choking of
nallahs and assured the general public that JMC will put every possible efforts for mitigating the
sufferings of residents of different areas falling within the limits of Jammu Municipal Corporation.

Jammu City stepping towards- Garbage to Gold
Under Swachh Bharat Mission, and clean India campaign Jammu Municipal Corporation on 11-
05-2016 continued its training/ awareness programme to achieve the goal of making Jammu garbage
free & converting garbage to gold JMC is conducting three days training cum screening programme on
Integrated and Sustainable Solid & Liquid Resource Management at Jambu Lochan Community Hall,
Amphalla, Jammu. The programme attracted participataion from many stake holders like self help
groups, unemployed youths, social workers, NGO’s and representatives of different social organizations.
The awareness programme was organised by Sh. C. Srinivasan, Vellore Project Director & Consultant of
SLRM project of Indian Green Services under the guidance of Asstt, Commissioner (Rev), Ms. Subah
Mehta, KAS Project Coordinator for JMC. Mr. Srinivasan in his awareness programme and presentation
provided a detailed review of the successful implementation of solid & liquid Resource management
(SLRM) in various cities of India.
SLRM project aims at to make our city clean & green. Very good response was received from the
particapants in the awareness programme. More than 3000 participants took part in the programme in the
two days and they have registered with the Jammu Munnicipal Corporation for further training in the
field.
3rd day programme will be held tomorrow on 12.05.2016 at 10:00 A.M at Jambu Lochan Hall,
Amphalla, Jammu. All interested youth both educated and illiterate may attend the programme and get
benefited.

The Municipal Veterinary Officer, Dr. Zafar Iqbal along with field staff on the directions of worthy Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Ms. Mandeep Kaur, IAS conducted a meat drive in the ares of Channi Himmat, Trikuta Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Jewel & Talab Tillo, Jammu etc.
While checking meat/Chicken shops, 19 KG of substandard/unstamped meat
has been discarded on spot and fine to the tune of Rs. 2000/- has been realized
from the defaulters and one shop at Talab Tillo, Bohri is being sealed by the
Veterinary wing of JMC.
The drive will remain continue in near future against all the food
establishments/shopkeepers running in the market are strictly warned and
directed to ensure the supply of good quality meat/chicken to the Citizens of
Jammu City.
Jammu Municipal Corporation appeals to all the Shopkeepers especially those
dealing with meat/chicken products to maintain hygienic environment and make
available quality products to the consumers and also appeals to all the
Shopkeepers/vendors and citizens of city not to use polythene carry bags failing
which action under rule shall be initiated against them.

16th -31st May, 2016
Under Swachh Bharat Mission, and clean India campaign a Thematic
Cleanliness drive has been initiated by JMC under the able guidelines of
Commissioner JMC Ms. Mandeep Kaur, IAS and Joint Commissioner (Adm) R.S
Jamwal, KAS in which Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, M.V.O/ I/c Zone Officer II (Sanitation wing)
got cleaned the rooftop of Town Hall building by way of utilizing the servicws of Men &
Machinery & others under the theme for the “Special drive of Cleanliness in Govt.
Offices and Buildings” to be conducted during the fortnight from 16th of May to 31st of
May 2016 in an intensive manner.
In the first instance Roof top of Town Hall building of JMC was cleaned
intensively under the supervision of M.V.O/I/c Zone Officer II (Sanitation wing).
The drive will remain in force upto 31st May and all the debris & other
waste if any shall be got removed besides cleaning & repair work of all Sanitary
facilities in the JMC.

Hall was cleaned and at Rajpura in Govt. Primary School Cleanliness drive was
launched and school going children’s aware of the mission under the theme
Thematic Cleanliness drive in Govt. Offices & buildings.
Jammu Municipal Corporation is going to take the other Govt. institutions
under this drive in near future which is schedule to be completed in this fortnight
mission on the direction of Commissioner JMC Ms. Mandeep Kaur, IAS and Joint
Commissioner (Adm) R.S Jamwal, KAS in which Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, M.V.O/ I/c Zone
Officer II (Sanitation wing) asked to deploy men and machinery to clean other

In view of Govt. Instruction today on 21/05/2016 Thematic sanitation drive
was launched in and around in the office of Executive Engineer Power Development
Department Div. 1 Parade Jammu. During this drive the office as well as premises of
the division was thoroughly cleaned. Executive Engineer thanks the Jammu
Municipal Corporation for launching this drive. During this drive Executive Engineer
Ashok Gupta, AEE Sh. Rattan and other staff of Electric Division was also present.
The Electric Department was ask to install the dustbins in the office premises for use.
Jammu Municipal Corporation is going to take the other Govt. institutions
under this drive in near future which is schedule to be completed in this fortnight

JMC conducts thematic cleanliness drive in Divisional commissioner Office
Complying with the instructions of Housing & Urban Development Department to start Thematic Cleanliness drive in Govt. Offices and buildings w.e.f 16th to 31st may 2016, today on 23/05/2016 Jammu Municipal Corporation conducted a drive in the office premises of the Divisional Commissioner Jammu.
The drive was launched by Dr. Pawan Kotwal Divisional Commissioner Jammu in presence of Sh. R.S. Jamwal Joint Commissioner (A) JMC & Dr. Mohd. Saleem Khan, Health Officer besides other supervisory sanitation staff of JMC. Sufficient number of men and machinery were deployed by Health Officer for this drive.
During this drive thorough sweeping of roof top, rooms, Conference halls, corridors, stairs besides dusting removal of spider webs and cleaning of window pans was done. The toilets were also thoroughly cleaned.
On the outer side all the small and deep drains were desilted. The parking and adjoining area of Divisional Commissioner’s Office was also cleaned. Some areas within the premises which were pointed out by Divisional Commissioner for sanitation were also cleaned. About six trucks of garbage and debris was removed during the drive.
The drive will remain continue in which other govt. offices will also be covered till its conclusion on 31st May 2016.
JMC has prepared complete schedule of the thematic cleanliness drive for forth coming days., more Govt. Offices will be selected.

Corporation conducted a drive in the office premises of the Director Information
Jammu.
The drive was launched in presence of Sh. T. R. Shastri Joint Director,
Information Jammu, Sh. R.S. Jamwal Joint Commissioner (A) & Dr. Mohd. Saleem
Khan, Health Officer JMC besides other supervisory sanitation staff of JMC. The
staff from the office of Director Information was also present during the drive.
Sufficient number of men and machinery was deployed by Health wing for this
drive.
During this drive thorough sweeping of roof top, rooms, corridors, stairs
besides dusting, removal of spider webs and cleaning of window panes was done.
The toilets were also thoroughly cleaned. Joint Director Information, appreciated
Jammu Municipal Corporation for conducting this sanitation drive. He also
requested to continue the same at least twice in a month in future also

and adjoining area of Director Information Office was also cleaned. About four

and buildings w.e.f 16th to 31st may 2016 today on 27/05/2016 Jammu Municipal
Corporation conducted a drive in the office premises of the Deputy Commissioner
Jammu’s office.
The drive has been launched as an intensive thematic campaign in all govt.
offices under Swachh Bharat Mission. Today’s drive was conducted in presence of
senior officers from Dy. Commissioner’s office and Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Sufficient number of men and machinery was deployed by Health & sanitation wing
of JMC for this drive.
During this drive thorough sweeping of roof top, rooms, corridors, stairs
besides dusting, removal of spider webs and cleaning of window panes was done.
The toilets were also thoroughly cleaned. The senior officers of Dy. Commissioner’s
office appreciated Jammu Municipal Corporation for conducting this sanitation
drive. They also requested to continue the same at least twice in a month in future

Director Libraries, Municipal Veterinary Officer/Zonal Officer-II (Sanitation) &
Sanitation Officer alongwith filed staff. The cleanliness drive was carried out

inside/outside the premises of Ranbir Singh Library. The Dy Director Libraries
appreciated the work done by Jammu Municipal Corporation and assure Municipal
administration for all possible help in this behalf from their side.

general to cooperate with Jammu Municipal Corporation in keeping Jammu Clean &
Green and also not to use polythene carry bags. They requested general public

Thematic Cleanliness drive in Govt. Offices & buildings w.e.f 16th -31st May, 2016
Continuing the Thematic Cleanliness drive being conducted in Govt. Offices
and buildings w.e.f 16th to 31st may 2016 today on 28/05/2016 Jammu Municipal
Corporation conducted a drive in the premises of the Yatri Bhawan Bhagwati Nagar
(Base Camp for Shri Amar Nath Ji Yatra).
The drive was launched by Sh. R.S. Jamwal Joint Commissioner (A) & Dr.
Mohd. Saleem Khan, Health Officer JMC besides other supervisory sanitation staff
of JMC. The staff of tourism Department working at Yatri Bhawan was also present
during the drive. Sufficient number of men and machinery was deployed by Health
& sanitation wing for this drive. The Yatri Bhawan which is govt. building was
selected for today’s drive in view of Shri Amar Nath Ji Yatra ensuing from 2nd July
2016.
During this drive thorough sweeping of roof top, rooms, corridors, stairs
besides dusting, removal of spider webs and cleaning of window panes was done.
The toilets were also thoroughly cleaned. The staff of Yatri Bhawan & other offices

Press Release
The Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Ms. Mandeep Kaur,
IAS conducted an extensive tour of Rajiv Nagar Basti alongwith Officers of
JMC Mr. R.S. Jamwal, KAS, Joint Commissioner (A), Ms. Subah Mehta, KAS,
Asstt. Commissioner (Revenue), and Sh. N.D. Shah, Naib Tehsildar
(Revenue), JMC during which the Commissioner, JMC interacted with the
inhabitants of Rajiv Nagar Basti and apprised them that JMC has constructed
flats at Sunjwan under Basic Services to Urban Poor (BSUP) Scheme to
rehabilitate them. She further stated that a survey shall be conducted by
JMC to verify the documents of the inhabitants so that bonafied incumbents
may be rehabilitated at Sunjwan. She also requested the inhabitants to
extend their cooperation so that the survey could be completed in a time
bound manner and allotment can be made to allottes after completing codal
formalities.
The Commissioner, JMC further apprised them that Naib Tehsildar
(Revenue) Mr. N.D. Shah shall conduct the survey from tomorrow alongwith
other field staff of JMC to ascertain the genuineness of the documents
prescribed for rehabilitation of inhabitants of Rajiv Nagar Basti so that
allotment can be made to the deserving and bonafied allottees.

On the concluding day of the Thematic Cleanliness drive being conducted in Govt. Offices and buildings w.e.f 16th to 31st may 2016 today on 31/05/2016 Jammu Municipal Corporation conducted a drive in the premises of the Women College Gandhi Nagar.
The drive was launched by Dr. Mohd. Saleem Khan, Health Officer JMC, Dr. Kiran Bakshi Principal & Prof. Sh. Surinder Sharma of Women College Gandhi Nagar Jammu besides other supervisory sanitation staff of JMC. The staff of Women College Gandhi Nagar was also present during the drive. Sufficient number of men and machinery was deployed by Health & sanitation wing for this drive. The motive to choose this educational institute for thematic cleanliness drive was to give awareness to the students about Swachh Bharat Mission.
During this drive thorough sweeping of classrooms, corridors, stairs lawns, grounds was done and besides this dusting, removal of spider webs and cleaning of window panes was also done. The toilets were also thoroughly cleaned by the scavenging staff of JMC. The Principal & other staff of Women College Gandhi Nagar Jammu have appreciated the initiative taken by the Jammu Municipal Corporation for conducting this sanitation drive.
On the outer side all the small and deep drains were desilted. The parking and adjoining area of Women College Gandhi Nagar was also cleaned. About four trucks of garbage and debris was removed during the drive.
The Health Officer JMC appealed the college staff & students to maintain the sanitation in future and also not to use polythene carry bags. Health Officer further requested general public through electronic & print media to use dustbins / containers installed in their localities for throwing garbage.
