• Global Warming green house affect• As the ocean warms hurricanes become
stronger• Stronger hurricanes form in perfect conditions
out to sea • Storms are much weaker and less destructive
when they form closer to land

Category 5:• Labor Day Hurricane 1935 hit miami
Hurricane Camille 1969 hit louisianaHurricane Andrew 1992 hit miami
• Hurricane Isabel in 2003 was the Atlantic's first Category 5 of the 21st Century, but it weakened to a category 2 storm before hitting the USA.
• Only 23 known to have reached this strength at any time during their lives between 1928 and 2003.
• Hurricane Katrina strengthened into a category 5 hurricane while in the Gulf of Mexico, but made landfall as a category 4 hurricane.
