60 2016 On going
1. Development of Automatic Coir Slivering Machine - Collaborative project with Coir Board Kochi Funded by UNDP.
The Project involves thorough opening and cleaning of coir fiber and
making into a parallel sliver for spinning coir yarn of Continuous long
yardages. Cost: 15.75 lakhs.(completed the project in the year 2003)
2. Design and Technology development for manufacture of particle board using tender coconut fiber - Collaborative project with Coir Board Kochi Funded by UNDP.
Tender coconuts after usage are value added by crushing it and making
into small particles using cutter and millers. The dried particles are
mixed in an appropriate proportion and blended with glue. The
lamination particle board is prepared to the required size. This value-
added technology is new and can be implemented as turn-key projects
Cost: 82 lakhs (completed the project in the year 2005)
3. Strengthen Research Facilities of all science departments of college
It has been identified for support in Level-0 category by the DST based
on the recommendations of the FIST Advisory Board(FISTAB). The
details of the recommendations for 5 years durations is to Strengthen
Research facilities in all science departments of the college
Resarch Plan:
