Pro – No additional Studs needed.
Con – Only 3-1/2” insulation with no insulation at 4x4 vertical framing members.
Framing Study – 2 4x4’s 8’-0” on center 2x4 framed panel w/ 2x2 furring 4’x8’ plywood sheathing Closed Cell Spray Foam in Wall Cavity
Pro – 5” of insulation with minimal thermal bridging.
Con – Could be labor intensive and large panels.
Framing Study – 3 4x4’s 8’-0” on center 2x4 framed panel w/ vertical “Z” furring 2” continuous rigid insulation on exterior of panel could go up to 8” with Cornell Product 3-1/2” Closed Cell Spray Foam in Wall Cavity
Pro – Could attain additional insulation value and with Cornell Product could eliminate any furring.
Con – Not making the rigid insulation panel ourselve.
