Our Story®
Element Designs’ is a custom manufacturer of contemporary casework components. But we are actually
much more than that. We are a combination of American entrepreneurship, Swiss precision and sheer
determination to reach a common goal: to provide the finest contemporary styled architectural products to
the North American market.
When we started the company in 2003, none of the five shareholders knew anything about manufacturing
our original product: aluminum frame cabinet doors. We knew the European market was using them with
an increasing volume and we knew eventually all trends made it to the United States. And so began our
interesting journey of establishing and building an aluminum frame cabinet door market in the kitchen, bath
and office furniture industries.
The original intention was to focus primarily on sales and marketing, and to let a contract manufacturer
actually make the product. We quickly realized the North American market demanded high quality products
in a very short amount of time which meant our plan wasn’t realistic. We knew that we had to control all
manufacturing processes from beginning to end in order to grow and maintain a happy customer base. We
made the move to a manufacturing facility in an industrial part of Charlotte and began our slow and steady
climb into the world of manufacturing.
As our product offerings increased, so did our floor plan. We were fortunate to be able to expand our 10,000
square foot space into over 65,000 feet of office and manufacturing space to keep up with our growth and
product development.
However impressive our facility growth may seem, we realize it was our work team that truly made Element
Designs a success. We had a great product, we had efficient processes but it was the right team that made
it happen. Our employees are by far our most valuable asset, and we see their pride and craftsmanship in
every product that leaves our dock doors. For that, we are grateful.
After years of hard work and perseverance we can honestly say it hasn’t always been easy, but it has always
been worth it. We hope that our customers are able to see at least part of the love and pride that we put into
our products.

Element Designs is a manufacturer of custom contemporary styled architectural millwork components, yet we are much more than that. The combination of American ingenuity and Swiss precision combined with a healthy dose of entrepreneurship across the founding partners were the ingredients of Element Designs. As we look back at the previous 12 years, we are reminded of all of the hard work that it has taken to reach today. When we look forward, we are very encouraged by the future of our business which is simply providing our existing and new customers with the premier aluminum, glass and acrylic products across the North American market.
When we founded Element Designs in 2003 and introduced the company at KBIS, we knew very little about manufacturing of our core product, aluminum frame cabinet doors. What we knew was that this style of door was very popular on the European market and that this trend could become popular in the US and Canada if a reliable partner focused on lead times, quality and customer service existed to provide the market with custom solutions. This was the start of the journey of establishing and building the aluminum frame cabinet door market within the residential kitchen and office furniture industries.
The original intention was to focus on primarily being a sales and marketing company by contract manufacturing our products. In a short amount of time after inception, it was obvious that this model would not be successful and that manufacturing in house would be the path for the future. The market’s demand for a highly flexible supplier of custom products at an exacting level of high quality standards precipitated a change in direction. In October of 2004, we began vertically integrating the manufacturing of our products and moved from our office location near downtown to an industrial area of Charlotte, North Carolina.
What started out as 10,000 sf of manufacturing space has grown steadily through the years and is now over 65,000 sf in 2015. We have been fortunate to expand without relocating which has been valuable as we have developed new product lines that can be produced in their own manufacturing unit, under one roof. Our growth and new product development is attributed to the acceptance of contemporary products in the North American market. It is also contributed to our customers, to whom we listen and respond. The resulting solutions have helped them fuel their business growth, for which we are grateful to be able to contribute.
In addition to our customers, the team at Element Designs is the number one asset to our business. We have had a great product and are continuously driving towards operational efficiencies but we have also been diligent about creating a culture within our company of fair where all team members work towards the common goals and values which are to exceed our customer’s expectations. This comes from pride in craftsmanship and an attitude of problem solving throughout our organization.
We appreciate your support of Element Designs and look forward to helping you expand your business for the future.
Sincerely,
Heinz, Mike, Nelson, Kevin & Beata

Recycled Content All of our glass inserts contain at least 20% post industrial recycled content and the architectural resin uses a high percentage of post industrial material.
Regional suppliers Our aluminum products are manufactured with materials from regional suppliers thus reducing our carbon footprint.
Exceptional Durability Our aluminum products have an extremely long life time and are virtually maintenance free.
No VOCs Our aluminum doors, PARAPAN solid surface doors, eluma products and base systems do not contain VOCs. Because no chemicals or toxins are released from our products, there is zero effect on indoor air quality. Our backpainted glass utilizes water based paint which is low in VOCs and is safe for the environment.
Post Industrial Waste Recycling All of the waste generated during our manufacturing operations (primary materials such as aluminum and glass) is recycled. The aluminum extrusion is taken to a local metal recycling facility. Unusable glass is reused in asphalt production.
Recyclability and Reusability Our aluminum, glass and acrylic materials are completely recyclable. Our aluminum doors can be reused rather than discarded by simply replacing components (new inserts for existing doors).
Reclamation We offer a recycling service for all of our products once their useful life expires. Send your product back to us to be completely and properly recycled.
Packaging Materials Our corrugated edge wrapping, which protects our products in transit, is made of 100% recycled cardboard and our corrugated boxes have a high recycled content.
Company Recycling It is very important for our company and our employees to divert waste from our landfills whenever possible. We recycle all cans, glass and plastic bottles, office paper, paper products and cardboard at our manufacturing facility in Charlotte, NC, thus reducing our carbon footprint. We actively promote the importance of environmental responsibility and are proud to sponsor a recycling center for our industrial park.
What does it mean to be green? For a material or product to be considered green, it should have low impact on the environment and therefore favor environmentalism.
Aluminum’s inherently sustainable characteristics combined with the extrusion process make extruded aluminum the green building industry’s material choice for now and the future.

Note to Specifier:Thank you for considering PARAPAN in your project.
PARAPAN is the highest quality high gloss door on the market
and should be designed in at a premium level. Parapan
is solid acrylic (PMMA) which yields a perfect mirror type
finish with negligible distortions on all surfaces. PARAPAN
is homogenous in nature meaning that it is solid acrylic
throughout and maintains constant color throughout the
entire cross-section. As such, the product is repairable
and absent of adhesives, fiberboard, edge banding and
undesirable by-products associated with adhesives . Due
to its solid state, PARAPAN can be submersed and it will not
delaminate, warp or degrade in humid environments unlike
other constructed high gloss alternatives. When designing
with PARAPAN, please specify: solid, homogenous, acrylic
(PMMA) throughout, low VOC emitting, UV fade resistant,
water impervious characteristics to prevent substitutions of
inferior high gloss materials. Substitution with products of
laminated construction are not permitted.

79 º®
PARAPAN® has a smooth and non porous surface. This means that dirt
does not adhere to it. When cleaning, use lukewarm water with a few
drops of mild dish detergent. It is recommended that a soft, lint free cloth
be used for cleaning PARAPAN®. The cloth should be thoroughly rinsed
before use. Do not use scouring powders or other abrasives. Do not
use products containing any oils. Components made from PARAPAN®
surfaces must not come into contact with organic solvents such as
thinners, alcohols, fuels, acetone (nail polish remover), benzene or carbon
tetrachloride. Do not wipe away dust with a dry cloth.
Removal of Marks
Polishing removes marks such as scratches and seals the surface. Polishing
should only be done after PARAPAN® is thoroughly cleaned and dried.
Never use paper towels to clean or dry PARAPAN® as they can cause
fine scratching on the sheet surface. Deep scratches can be removed
by progressive step wet sanding, finishing with an 800 grit abrasive, prior
to polishing.
Finish Maintenance
We strongly recommend ACRIFIX™ AC1010 plastics cleaner, made
especially for PARAPAN® and available from Element Designs. The
cleaner prevents electrostatic buildup and makes PARAPAN® easy to
clean.
Further care, fabrication and bonding instructions can be found in
the Element Designs’ PARAPAN® Technical Manual on our website:

Note to Specifier:
Thank you for considering Element Designs’
backpainted glass in your project. Backpainted
glass is produced at highest quality in the market
due to our customer’s expectations and the
vast vertical and horizontal application range
of the product. Element Designs only coats
low-iron optically clear glass for minimal optical
color distortion of the paint through the glass.
The paint itself is water based and produces
negligible VOCs during production. When
designing with Element Designs backpainted
glass, please specify: Element Designs, water
based paint, low iron glass, flat edge polished,
100% tempered, light grey backer, custom color
match capability, negligible VOC content and
total opacity to prevent substitutions of inferior
painted glass products.
