Since mid 2008: almost 430,000 mt mostly for the Horn of Africa and Great Lakes Reduces procurement & transport lead times (from 86 to 1-45 days). Commodities are procured without having defined funding or final destinations

Similar to FPF but in addition keeps food stored at strategic locations, where WFP has operations and assets

WFP in emergencies have the dual mandate of delivering food aid and coordinating the logistics efforts of the humanitarian community through the logistics cluster.

FPF mechanism has evolved since last year: at the beginning, food would not leave the port unless it had identified funding, now food is procured, shipped and arrives without always knowing the final destination

Advance Financing (when permitted|) still goes through the 83 day-long process
