AbstractandOpportunityPesticidesareanessentialinputinagriculture.However,theyaretoxicandpollutetheecosystem.Here,wearedevelopinganadditivethatenhancespesticideapplicationefficiency,therebyreducingtheneededquantity.

• Hydrophobicplants(i.e.,wheat,onion,cabbage…)thatrepelsprayedpesticidesarecommon

• Indianfarmerscanrarelyaffordexpensivesprayingequipment(i.e.,electrostaticsprayers)

ProposedSolutionWeaddoppositelychargedpolymerstotwosolutionsoftheliquidandspraythemsimultaneously.

Thesepolymersattractonthesurfaceandformhydrophilicdefectsthatpinthedroplets,therebyenhancingtheliquidretention.

Results• Whendropletscoalesceonthesurface,chargedpolymers

ValueProposition

• Easy-to-usesolutionwithnobarriertoentry

• Tenfoldincreaseinpesticideretention

• Reductionofproductioncostsandenvironmentalfootprint
