Playground Safety
A reminder of a few safety issues at Beresford Rd Public
School.
Student supervision in the playground commences at
8:30am. Students must be supervised by parents if
they arrive before this time.
No big balls in the playground in the morning.
Students are to play on hard surface areas only. NO
grass areas before school.
School Attendance Policy
Regular attendance at school for every student is essential if
students are to achieve their potential, and increase their
career and life options.
What are the responsibilities of parents? Parents must ensure:
- their children who are enrolled at school attend every day
the school is open for instruction.
- they provide an explanation for absences to the school
within 7 days from the first day of any period of absence
through means such as telephone call, written note, text
message or email. The 7 day timeframe for explaining
absences is a requirement of the Education Act (1990).

Senior Dance performing at Synergy
Our Senior Dance group had their dress rehearsal today for
the Synergy dance festival which they will perform tonight,
Tuesday 4th June at Penrith Panthers. A reminder that
students need to meet Mrs Mangin by 7pm, dressed in their
costumes, with hair and makeup done. We wish the
students and Mrs Mangin all the best. We know they will
represent Beresford Road proudly. A huge thanks to the
families and teachers who are coming along to support the
dance group.

Unfortunately the P&C meeting scheduled for Tuesday 4th
June has to be postponed until Tuesday 11th June due to
many staff, including the principal, attending the Synergy
Dance Festival.
Winter PSSA
Winter PSSA has now commenced. Thank you to all the
parents who have come along to support the teams. We ask

- they work in partnership with the school to plan and
implement strategies to support regular attendance at
school. This includes communicating with the school if they
are aware of issues impacting on their child’s attendance or
engagement with school.
Staff at Beresford Road would like to work in partnerships
with parents to promote the regular attendance of
students.
MC Minutes
Hi everyone!
Report time is catching up to us like a rabid dog on a squir-
rel. A reminder that our reports are different to main-
stream in that student progress is measured against their
Individual Learning Plans (ILP) and the goals in them.
I was also lucky enough to read through the programs here
in the Support Unit this week, and were they a treat! Each
program is diverse, accommodating, full of creative lessons
and fantastic resources. Kudos to our teachers here in the
unit, and of course we’d be lost without our wonderful
SLSOs!
It was great seeing such a turnout from the Support Unit
last week at the school disco. Many students didn’t stop
dancing all night! I saw lots of glow-stick wearing,
popper-drinking groovers! If you missed this term’s, make
sure to come to the next one! They really are fun on a bun!
Our CAPA dress rehearsal is in 2 weeks and although we’ve
ordered in the majority of costumes, we still require black
shoes and socks. These don’t need to be fancy; Target,
K Mart or Big W are more than adequate. Remember these
go back to you after the concert which is shaping up to be
something spectacular!
A reminder that there is a P&C Mufti Day for the State of
Origin on Wednesday the 5th. Gold coin for sweets at
lunchtime. Well, that’s it for now. Have a safe and fun long
weekend! Adam

The purpose of the merit system is to reward and encourage good behaviour, schoolwork, citizenship and attitude.

Support. It is acknowledged that smaller classes will receive proportionally more awards.
Blue Merit Awards
Students will receive a Blue Certificate for each 5 white ones received. All certificates (blue, white and gold) will be
presented at Friday’s assembly. Awards winners names are published in the newsletter.
Gold Awards
Gold Awards will be presented to students Achieving 4 Blue Awards (20White Awards). Students arriving at the school after
Kindergarten will receive a Gold Award on a pro rata basis (minimum 3 years attendance, then at least 3 white certificates
per year of attendance).
Parents need to keep their child’s merit awards at home and then “trade” them for a blue or gold award when appropriate.
Merit Awards “traded will be initialled by the class teacher on the back of the card and returned to the student. The school
keeps a record of awards given each year but may not be able to track awards given in previous years.
