MessagesChecking for Mail1. To receive incoming mail, select Check Mail from the File

menu, press Ctrl + M, or click the Check Mail button.2. If you are prompted to enter a password, enter

the password in the space provided and click the OK button.3. The New Mail or No New Mail dialog box will appear, telling

 you that you have new mail or do not have new mail. If you donot want this dialog box to appear again, check the Don’t showalerts for New Mail or No New Mail again box. Click the OKbutton when you are done.

Checking for Mail AutomaticallyEudora can automatically check for incoming mail messages.1. To set up automatic checking, select Options from the Tools

menu.2. Select Checking Mail from the Category list box.3. In the Check for mail every __ minute(s) box, enter the

number of minutes you want between mail checks.4. Make changes to mail checking options, as desired.5. Click the OK button when you are done.

Changing your Password1. To change your password, select Change Password from the

Special menu.2. If you have more than one personality, you will need to select a

personality from the drop down list.3. Enter the current password for that personality in the

Password box.

4. Click the OK button.5. Enter a new password in the Password box.6. Click the OK button.7.  Verify the password by entering the password again.8. Click the OK button.

Opening and Closing a MessageTo open a message, double-click the message as it appears in theMessage window. To close a message, select Close from the Filemenu or press Ctrl + W .

Previewing a Message You can preview your message without opening it in a separate window. Click once on the message as it appears in the Message window. The message text will appear in the Message Previewpane. Use the Up and Down arrow keys to move up and downthrough the messages in the Message window.

Printing a Message1. To print a message, click once on the message you want to

print.2. Select Print from the File menu, press Ctrl + P, or click the

Print button.

3. Make changes to the print options, as desired.4. Click the OK button.

Getting StartedThe Eudora Window

Title Bar – displays the name of the program andinformation about the active item.

Menu Bar – contains all tools for use with Eudora.

Toolbar – contains shortcuts for common Eudora actionsand tools.

Tabbed Window – contains tools for working withmailboxes, files, signatures, stationery, and personalities.

Message Window – displays the contents of the activemailbox.

Message Preview Pane – displays the contents of theselected message.

Task Status and Task Errors – displays task status andprogress, as well as task errors.

Status Bar – displays information about a button when youposition the mouse pointer over the button.

Setting up a New Personality1. To create a new personality, select Personalities from the

Tools menu, or click the Personalities tab.2. Right-click an empty area of the Personalities window.3. Select New from the pop-up menu.4. Click the Create a brand new email account button.5. Click the Next button.6. Follow the directions provided to create your new personality.

Click the Next and Back buttons to move forward andbackward through the steps.

7.  When you are done, click the Finish button.

Changing Personality Settings1. To make changes to the personality settings, right-click the

personality as it appears in the Personality window.2. Select Properties from the pop-up menu.3. Make changes, as desired.4. If you want Eudora to check for incoming mail for this

personality, be sure the Check Mail box is checked.5. Click the OK button when you are done.
