Case Study 01: ISO14001 and ISO 50001 Gap Analysis• A member of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff
was seconded to develop the Airport ISO 14001 Environmental Energy System(EMS)
• We then performed a gap analysis to between the new ISO14001 and ISO50001 Energy Management System(EnMS)
• This gap analysis formed the basis of an action plan to help the airport achieved 50001
![Page 12: European Energy-Efficiency Policy and How to Make It Work for You](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022052117/5a6483ba7f8b9a31568b4d89/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Case Study 02: Energy Audit for Manchester Airport Group
We conducted an energy audit that identified 16 GWh of energy; cost savings of € 4m. For an investment of € 17.6m across three airports.
Lighting
•High efficiency apron high mast lighting, saving around £136k for a cost around £1.1m
HVAC
•Chiller optimisation and adapting ventilation control strategies to utilise free cooling in terminals , saving £123k for an expected investment of £460k
Operational Systems
• Improving the efficiency of baggage system saving £39k for a cost of £92k
Heating
• Introduction low carbon heating using Biomass boiler saving £21k/year for an expected investment of £90k

Summary
• Work with what you have (e.g. ISO14001 & ACA carbon reporting)
• Work to improve data metering & monitoring• Align energy & carbon goals to broader business goals• Identify necessary resources that require business buy-in• Move beyond compliance to good/best practice (e.g.
ISO50001)
