Julian Bailey, who trained at Ruskin School of Art and Royal Academy Schools, shows paintings alongside our illustration exhibition ‘Fashion Show’. Having spent time painting figures during London Fashion week, this selection of paintings has a focus on London’s fashionistas around Bond Street and Chelsea. These are observed with a quick and boldly coloured approach in a loose, abstract style.
Julian Bailey’s awards include the Turner Gold Medal (1986), Landseer Scholarship (1999), Hunting Art Prize finalist (2004), David Messum Prize (2011) and he became an elected member of the New English Art Club in 2011. His works are in the collections of HRH The Prince of Wales, The National Trust, New College Oxford, Pembroke College Oxford, Daiwa Bank, among many other corporate and private collections. Julian Bailey regularly shows his work in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, as well as holding solo exhibitions in London, Australia and the United States of America.

Jacqueline Bissett Jacqueline Bissett has worked with Selfridges, Harrods, Givenchy, Escada, Giorgio Beverly Hills, Samsung & Kurt Geiger, amongst others. Bissett graduated from the Bourneville School of Art & Epsom College of Art. Her style sees splashes of colour bled onto a wet page. It’s a playful approach, quickly executed, with strong black line adding definition and contrast to the soft watercolours.

Helen BullockHelen Bullock, who read both her undergradiate and masters degrees at Central St Martins, London, has created designs for Anthropologie & Liberty, London. Designer-collaborations include John Galliano, Ossie Clark, Phoebe English, Ralph Lauren, and Louis Vuitton. Her painterly, ‘less is more’ approach gives a colourful, quick and textured feel of the designs she illustrates, simplifying forms and faces, whilst emphasising use of colour.

Jude JelfsJude Jelfs studied Fine Art, and became a potter when she married John Jelfs. Over the last few years, she has returned to her roots, combining pottery with painting and sculpture in her current work.
Her ceramics range from flat, almost two-dimensional, slab-built vessels, in earthenware or porcelain, to 3-dimensional stoneware pieces. Some pieces are made in editions or series. Others are one-offs. Jude also works in bronze.
Her work is on show at galleries all over the UK, as well as in her studio in the Cotswolds. She is a professional member of the Craft Potters’ Association.
The body of work in this exhibition uses colours inspired by the Bloomsbury movement, which remains in vogue and is currently enjoying a revival.
