First Installment in a series by Dr. Brett Salkeld on Catholic Voting
Why the Church Won’t Tell Catholics Who to Vote For
As we approach the upcoming federal election, Catholics are forced to answer the question, “How
does my faith inform my politics?” As citizens we have the right to vote based on our values, and as
Catholics we have the duty to do so. Any suggestion that we should refrain from “imposing” our Cath-
olic values on a pluralistic society is nonsense. Those who do refrain from voting according to their
own values simply let others “impose” their values on the rest of us unchallenged…

St. Benedict Keychains Available The popular St. Benedict medal is crafted after the spiritual legacy of St. Benedict of Nursia (d. 547 A.D.) the founder of the order of Benedictine monks, and, as a result, Western monasticism itself. This holy abbot had many encounters with the Devil during his life. His triumph over Satan's wiles is the origin of the power that lies behind the medal named for him. Because St. Benedict is the patron saint against many forms of diabolical influence—including witchcraft, poison, disease, and temptation—his medal has the power to protect those who use it faithfully from various evils and temptations. Each of the letters engraved on the front and back of the medal stand for Latin prayers of exorcism. Fr. Richard has blessed these. Martin has several of these in the office and will give you one. You are asked however to wear them (use them daily) with your keys. You can read more about the medal and it’s inscription here https://www.osb.org/the-medal-of-saint-benedict/
