Abstract!"!"- Retro-style pixel art single player
platform game !"!"- The player has to complete the Msc.
Degree by gathering 2 types of collectibles, books and the master thesis, which increase feupinho ECTS count!!!!
"- Avoid touching 2 types of enemies: Beer and "Licor Beirão" bottles !
Abstract!"!"- Each contact with an enemy wastes one
enrolment year of five available. When the enrolment years reach 0 => Game Over!!
"- Victory Condition: completes all the disciplines (books) and also grabs the thesis ! => wins the degree, graduating from the course !!
"- Game inspired by the classic Bomb jack Distinctive Features: !!1) grabbing items unlocks Different items !2)Difficulty increases in the same level and the collectible “books” is spawned randomly too!3)Real narrative behind the game !
Game Play!"!"!"- 12 disciplines (12 ECTS) each year till the
fourth. Fifth year composed of 5 disciplines plus thesis (difficult to reach like…) !!
"- To advance year player has to pay tuition.!!!!!!!!"!
!"- Avoid bottles. Beer move horizontally
and "Licor Beirão" vertically!!
"- Each year: more bottles in increasingly difficult positions to avoid !

What we've conquered!"!"!"- Stencyl understanding: actors, scenes,
behaviours, images, sounds...!!
"- Pixel Art Skills: all the assets excluding the game trees are proprietary and the group didn't have experience in it!!
"- Chiptune Sound Design: only one Sound FX is not proprietary: cash register. Hands-on Learning of musical theory elements !!Own version for victory screen music was created, but not implemented in final version of prototype
What were our difficulties "!"!"- Stencyl debugging is difficult: errors
are not explained !!
"- Simplification of form and color is not easy when creating pixel art . Giving an attractive look using a reduced number of sprites (32x32 resolution) => takes lots of production time (coloring px by px) !!
"- creating a musical structure that doesn’t become boring for the Chiptune (RetroGaming) genre is a challenging task!
"!"- The most useful platforms for creating
this kind of sound waves are not flexible !
Future Developments"!"!"- Creation of personalized levels with
characteristic symbols for each FEUP course !!
"- Development of Menu and Game Instructions Screens "!!
"- More character animations – EG. jump, fall, injury!!
"- Music variations that follow the flow of the game !!
"- Final Boss inclusion …. !
