Field Lab Assignment
Part I-For this assignment I went out to a local creek to find sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic
rocks. The field that I went into was near a bridge with many rocks since the bottom of the creek was dried due to Summer. The foliage around the place was very dry as you will see in the pictures. Finding the different types of rocks did not prove to be too hard. There were many to chose from at the bottom of the creek.

This is the creek where I found the different type of rocks. Notice the bed of the creek filled with all of the dirrent types as well as the very dry foliage around.

This is an example of mass wasting or an erosional event. The reason that there was a creek for me to go to and collect my samples was because of the waste water
from the hills that began to run down way before my time. Over the years it began to accumulate in this spot making the creek bed and a fairly large creek.
Weathering Processes
This is a type of weathering process that I found near the creek that I collect-ed my rock samples from. This is a type of physical weathering caused by
exfoliation. There is expansion of the rock due to uplift and erosion.
This is the solar plant located near the oil fields in Coalinga, CA. This is an example of the practi-cal use of geology in my local area. The reason that it is an example is because since I live in
the Central Valley were the heat and sun are in abundance most of the year, we are using that to our advantage. We are using that to help us produce solar energy that we can utilize
daily.
