Arte Institute and the Department of Portuguese and Brazil-ian Studies (Brown University) present Os Maias [The Maias], a João Botelho film based on the novel by Eça de Queiroz.
Written by the genius that was Eça de Queiroz, The Maias is a great, melodramatic, humorous and mel-ancholic work that points to the inevitable fate await-ing both the Maia family and Portugal.
The film will be in Portuguese with English subtitles and will be followed by a Q&A with actor Pedro Lacerda.
