Antique and classic boatsfrom Florida, Michigan, Vir-ginia, South Carolina, NewJersey, Maryland and Indianawill soon make their way toSkaneateles. As will a 1956Lyman from Harrisburg, Pa.,towed by a 1956 Buick, and arare 1913 Matthews launchwith its original Scrippsengine, owned by one of fourexhibitors from New Jersey'sLake Hopatcong.
They are among the 80 or sopreserved and restoredwooden boats that will be ondisplay at Skaneateles'Antique and Classic BoatShow, July 23-25.
This is the Finger LakesChapter's 32nd annual show,and the 16th year it has beenheld in Skaneateles.Admission is free.
The show is organized by theFinger Lakes Chapter of theAntique and Classic BoatSociety and the SkaneatelesArea Chamber of Com-merce, and presented by

From 2 to 6p.m. Friday,as eachexhibitingboatapproachesthe dock, it
will be welcomed by a mem-ber of the Sea Scouts, blow-ing his bosun's whistle.Boats will run the gamutfrom mahogany runaboutsmanufactured by Chris-Craft, Hacker and Gar Woodin the early 1900s to launch-es, sailboats, canoes, rowingcraft and race boats - manyrestored to their originalcondition.Judging of the boats, in 20categories, takes place Saturday morning.Throughout the weekend,visitors to the show will casttheir votes for the highlycoveted People's Choice
Award, sponsored by Doug'sFish Fry, which will be pre-sented at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Free musical entertainmentwill be provided each day.
Raffles and Silent AuctionOn Saturday from 11 a.m. to3 p.m., while their parentsadmire the displays andlearn about the boats' her-itage, children can partici-pate in activities designedespecially for them.

The festival - featuringmore than 30 merchantsand organized by the Skaneate-les Area Chamber of Com-merce - runs along Gene-see, Jordan and Fennellstreets. Hours are 9 a.m. to8 p.m. Thursday and Friday
and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Satur-day.From noon to 4 p.m. eachday, the Jackman Twins willroam the streets, entertain-ing children of all ages withballoon art and magic.
And at least one monsterwill make an appearance:Moishe, from "Where theWild Things Are," will takephotos with children andpass out coupons forCreekside Books & Coffee.
Susan Dove, executivedirector of the Chamber ofCommerce, notes the festi-val is a longstanding tradi-tion for many families, andis so popular that peoplestart asking about the datein January and then plan
their vacations around it.
One person who wouldn'tmiss it is Ros Schwartz, whohas lived in Skaneateles 42years and has been therefrom the start. "The Curb-stone Festival is a mosaic ofpeople, places and things,where you search for theperfect bargain," she says."I've found some great dealson handbags, clothing,bracelets, and items for thehouse."
"While the sidewalk salesare the draw, we have some-thing for everyone," saysDove. "Visitors can takestrolls by the lake, enjoyFriday night's band concert,try the village's fine restaurants, and stay
overnight at one of our historic inns or B&Bs. Also,Mid-Lakes Navigation www.midlakesnav.comwill offer coupons for itssightseeing and dinnercruises throughout theweekend."Along with their favorites,Dove invites shoppers to visitmerchants that are new to thevillage and will be participatingin the festival for the first time-Gallery 54,Echo Off the Lake,Blue Danube,Once and Again,and Camillus Nail & Spa.
The Chamber will also havea tent, on Jordan Street,where it will sell posters andraffle tickets for theAntique and Classic Boat
Show and other souvenirsof the village."The Curbstone Festival isfar more than a sale - it's an experience not to bemissed," says Dove.
Visitors can park at meteredspots along the street or inthe municipal lot (accessedthrough Genesee or Statestreets), where two-hourparking is free and all-dayparking is $2. Free parking isavailable at the old fire-house on Fennell Street andon various side streets.
