PRAYER OF INVOCATION
Show me the suffering of the most miserable,
so I will know your people’s plight.
Free me to pray for others
for you are present in every person.
Help me take responsibility for my own life
so that I can be free at last.
Grant me courage to serve others
for in service there is true life.
Give me honesty and patience
so that I can work with others.
Bring forth song and celebration
so that the spirit may be alive among us.
Let the spirit flourish and grow
so that we will never tire of the struggle of life.
Let us remember those who died for justice
for they have given us life.
Help us to love even those who hate us,
so that we may change the world. Amen.
*THE LORD'S PRAYER (trespasses) Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on
earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen.
*GLORIA PATRI Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is
now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

SUNDAY SCHOOL Sundays at 10:00 a.m. In the
Chapel.
"Engaging the whole child: heart, mind, hands, senses,
intuition." Godly Play is a Montessori-related approach
to learning which enables children to experience the
presence of a loving God and discover how to “speak
the language” of their biblical faith. The Godly Play
curriculum is focused on both the Old Testament and New Testament
scriptures. It is a discovery method of learning using storytelling and
props which enables young children to encounter God. Its intent is to
invite children to experience God’s presence as real and loving. Godly
Play is offered at First Parish on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. for children ages
prek through grade 5, in three rooms designed for Godly Play.
NURSERY Sundays 9:45 am. to 11:30 a.m. Our professional nursery
staff welcomes and cares for children from infancy through age 3 on
Sundays from 9:45 a.m. until the end of the worship service.
“He/She who sings, prays twice.”
What better way to have a child learn and remember their special
relationship with God than to have them sing.
Junior Choir is for children in Grades 2-5 and is a wonderful opportunity
for your child. Wednesdays 6:00-6:45 PM in the Chapel

YOUTH GROUP
Are you looking for a way to get involved with church
programming? Join the network of volunteers for the
Youth Group. You don't have to be a parent of a current
youth to help, either. Come to an info session after
church on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel
to learn how you can join and impact the vibrant
community of young people in our congregation. Questions, or can't
attend? Email Emelia at [email protected]
Confirmation Class Registration What is Church, anyway? Why do we take communion? The
Confirmation Class will answer questions like these and more. Students
in 9th grade and up who have not gone through a Confirmation program
may register. The First Parish Church Confirmation Class will start
on Sunday, Oct. 20. Questions? Contact Jen Powers or Emelia Attridge.
