Reading: LI: To understand the style of online news articles. This week, you are going to plan an online article.
Re-read the eBook Amazing Inventions.
LI: To build and describe linear sequences.
Sequences which increase or
decrease by the same amount are called linear
sequences, for example, 2, 4, 6, 8 is an increase of 2.
Have a go at building these
sequences:
Start at 2, the rule is + 4. Start at 15, the rule is - 3.
Can you work out the
missing numbers in this sequence?
1, 5, 9, , , 21, 25.
Have a go at the task below.
PE:
LI: To increase my heart rate.
Take part in the fitness
exercises led by Joe Wicks daily. You can do this with all members of
your family.

French: LI: To learn the parts of
the body in French.
Using the information from last week, draw a creature of your own and label the parts of the body in French.
Write the number also e.g.
quatre pieds = 4 feet
Writing: LI: To note and develop initial ideas. You are going to write an online news article for the children’s website, ‘KidsNews’, about one of the inventions in the eBook. Look at the example
below. Who might the
audience be? The purpose
of the article is to inform
them. Can you find the key
features of the text? (e.g.
sentence paragraphs, a
catchy title, an introductory
sentence, etc.). These
features will be your
success criteria for the
writing you will do today.
Choose an invention and create a plan to help you write an online news article using a catchy title (e.g. ‘Bright spark!’), an introductory sentence and headings for each paragraph. See the example below if you need it.
Spelling: Find words in the eBook you are not sure how to spell and make a glossary for your own eBook page. Write the meaning of the words.
Handwriting: Use varying fonts for your glossary.
Tues
day
Reading: LI: To retrieve and record information from non-fiction. Do some research on your chosen invention and inventor for the eBook pages you are going to create.
LI: To identify missing terms.
What do you think the two missing terms are?
3, , , 18

What would you do for this
sequence? Have a go at
Inheritance and evolution topic
LI: To recognise that living things produce offspring of the same
kind, but normally offspring vary and are not identical to their
parents in the context of inheritance. I can explain the scientific
concept of inheritance.
Music:
LI: To listen to music with attention to detail.
Make comparisons
between ‘Happy’ and your favourite song.
What instruments are
used in each? What is the tempo like?
Are there any vocals? What genres are they?
Writing: LI: To note and develop initial ideas.
Make a list of fact files
on your chosen
invention or inventor to
add as pop-ups on your
page. You can write
them as short
paragraphs ready to add
to your page. Remember
to include interesting
facts, dates, data and
play on words such as
alliteration or puns to
keep the interest of the
readers.

What do you think the rules
are for these sequences?
1, 3, 6, 10, 15
10, 8, 4, -2, -10
Create your own sequences and test your parents or
older siblings. Can they guess the pattern?
***
Can you find real-life examples of sequences e.g.
how often the Commonwealth Games take
place.
Use the internet or a dictionary to find out the meaning of these
words: (Cells, Chromosomes,
inheritance, variation, DNA and Genes).
What causes variation
in species? Use the inherited
characteristic cards below to sort them
into 2 groups. Things which can be inherited
from parents and things which can’t. Write these down if
you can’t print them. We’ll tell you the
answers next week.
Spelling: Look back at your glossary. Ask someone to test you on the spellings, begin to practise the ones you don’t know.
Handwriting: Use varying sized fonts for your eBook page, practice writing neatly in capital letters or bubble writing. Make a name label for yourself using bubble writing.

Reading: Re-read your plan and notes from yesterday.
LI: To find pairs of numbers
that satisfy an equation with
two unknown variables.
Remind yourself about how
to use algebraic formulas.
LI: To identify what I
already know about World
War 2.
In your book, create a
mind-map of everything you know about World
Writing: LI: To write using further organisational and presentational devices to
structure text and to guide the reader. Edit your plan and notes, think of 2 passive sentences you could use such as: The invention was discovered by... Which of the vocabulary from your glossary could you include on the eBook page? You are now ready to write your eBook page in your exercise book or on plain paper. Really focus on making the writing interesting for your target audience: children. Edit and improve your work by reading it to a family member. Does it make sense? Can you improve it further with the use of a dictionary or thesaurus? You can use some time tomorrow to complete your task.
Work out the value of each
letter.
A + 7 = 13
25 - G = 19
4M = 24
S ÷ 6 = 5
42/k = 6
What do you think the blank
box would be here?
7 x 3 = 25 -
What about:
12 = yz
Remember to multiply when
you see examples like this.
So, this means 12 = y x z

Reading: LI: To evaluate and edit my writing. Re-read your eBook page after looking at the Success Criteria again. Are you happy with your article? Could it be improved? Remember the Big Question. What is the best invention? Is there a right or wrong answer? Could you change someone else’s mind? How can you back up your opinions?
LI: To understand and calculate the mean.
Jane, Callum and Emma
each won some sweets at the school fair.
Jane won 10 sweets, Callum won 7 sweets and Emma
won 4 sweets. Their mum insists that they
share the sweets equally amongst themselves.
How many sweets did each child get?
What about for this one?
The next year the children
were more successful at the fair.
Jane won 20 sweets, Callum won 10 sweets and Emma
won 9. Again, their mum insisted
that they shared them equally.
How many sweets did each child get?
The mean is the average of the numbers. You can work
RE: LI: To consider how a person's motivation
affects whether their actions are considered
to be good or bad.
This term's key question is-
Does belief in Akhirah (life after death) help Muslims lead better
lives?

PSHE:
LI: To learn how to maintain physical,
mental and emotional health and wellbeing.
Make a well-being jar. Cut up pieces of paper
and write ideas for people to do to cheer themselves up. Write kind phrases or jobs
which you will help to do around the home. Put them in a jar and
label it with sharpies or by putting a paper label around it. Make sure it
is beautifully decorated. Put lovely music on while you do it and
practise your Calm Me breathing.
Writing: LI: To evaluate and edit my writing. How can you convince someone that you are right using written words? Which phrases are powerful and persuasive in your writing? Is there one invention which is better than all the others or are there a few which are equally useful? This might depend on which category (e.g. life-
saving, labour-saving) is our focus. Are there any important
inventions not covered by
the eBook? Use today to complete a
final published draft of your
page.
out the mean by adding everything together e.g.
sweets, by the number of people. So, 39 divided by 3.
Have a go at calculating the mean of something you are
interested in e.g. The number of goals scored by
four players on your favourite team.
For example, for Chelsea, Abraham has scored 15, Batshuayi has score 6,
Giroud has scored 2 and Zouma has scored 1. This is a total of 24. There are four of
them, so you would do 24 divided by 4. The average
would be 6 goals.
Spelling: Use a dictionary or spell checker to double check spellings.
Handwriting: Use presentation quality handwriting.

number of measurements, it will give you 20cm. If you
add the individual measurements, at present,
they equal 19cm. So, we know that the missing measurement is 1cm
because 20cm – 19cm = 1cm.
Have a go at the tasks below.
Spelling: Test yourself on your glossary words. Did you do better than last week?

RE
Akhirah
Akhirah means life after death. It is the place that Muslims believe they will enter after they pass away in this life.
To believe in the Akhirah is very important in Islam. It is one of the Pillars of Iman (belief).
Muslims believe that their life in this world is not for ever. After this life ends, they believe that they enter another place - the Akhirah. The next life -
the Akhirah is forever - so that is why they have to do lots of good deeds as a Muslim to be able to go to Jannah (Paradise) in the Akhirah.
If Muslims do a lot of bad deeds in this life, then they believe that they will go to Hell-fire.
They believe that this life is meant to be a preparation for the Akhirah. On the Day of Judgement, they think that they will be tested to see if they can
enter Jannah. Good deeds and bad deeds will be scaled to see which ones they have more of.
To make sure that they have prepared for the Akhirah and be rewarded by Allah, The Merciful and The Kind, they need to do all that Allah says that
they should do and give up all bad habits and wrong actions. They can do this if they follow the guidance given to Muhammad (peace be upon him) by Allah
- like the Qur'an and Sunnah.
