14. Undulate Ray - Exclusively for by-catches. May only be landed whole or gutted. 15. Spurdogs - No targeted fishing. Up to 2 tonnes per month may be landed provided a vessel is engaged in the

STECF approved by-catch avoidance programme and the fish are dead on hauling. All other catches must bereturned to the sea immediately. Total annual landings of spurdog may not exceed the quota.

16. Mackerel - Up to 33383 tonnes may be taken in EU 2a, EU and Norwegian 4a between 1 January - 15 Februaryand 1 September and 31 December 2019. Up to 4507 tonnes may be taken in Norwegian waters of 2a. Up to4585 tonnes may be taken in Faroese waters.

17. H. Mackerel - Up to 5 % of this quota fished in 2a or 4a before 30 June 2019 may be accounted for as fishedunder the quota for EU 4b, c & d. Up to 5 % of this quota may consist of by-catches of boarfish, haddock, whiting and mackerel. No more than 9 % of this quota may consist of the aforementioned species and bycatchesof species caught in excess of quota or catches of species in respect of which the Member State has no quota.

17. H.Mackerel - Up to 5 % of this quota may consist of by-catches of boarfish, haddock, whiting and mackerel. Nomore than 9 % of this quota may consist of the aforementioned species and by-catches of species caught in excess of quota or catches of species in respect of which the Member State has no quota.

19. Blue Whiting - Within a total access quantity of 22500 tonnes for the Union, up to 7 % of Irelandʼs quota may befished in Faroese waters. From EU quotas in this area and in 8c, 9 and 10 and in EU CECAF 34.1.1 up to227,975 tonnes may be fished in the Norwegian Economic area or in the fishery zone around Jan Mayen.

20. Herring - Quantities fished in the NEAFC Regulatory Area and Union waters must be reported to the Commission. Within quota limits no more than 25487 tonnes in total may be taken in Norwegian waters north of 62° N and the fishery zone around Jan Mayen. Ireland may take 399 tonnes from 2 and 5b north of 62° N(Faroese waters).

21. Herring - It shall be prohibited to target any herring in the part of the ICES zones subject to this TAC that lies between 56° N and 57° 30′ N, with the exception of a six nautical mile belt measured from the baseline of theUnited Kingdom's territorial sea.

22. Herring - Reference is to the herring stock in 6a south of 56° 00′ N and west of 07° 00′ W.23. Herring - This zone is reduced by the area bounded: to the north by lat 52° 30′ N, to the south by lat 52° 00′ N,

to the west by the coast of Ireland and to the east by the coast of the UK.24. Herring This zone is increased by the area bounded: to the north by latitude 52° 30′ N, to the south by latitude

The Landing ObligationFrom 1st of January 2019 catches of all quota species are subject to the EUlanding obligation (LO). Exemptions aside, all such catches must be landed andcounted against the quota.

Catches below minimum conservation reference size cannot be used for directhuman consumption. Unwanted catches should be avoided to prevent early cessation or choking of fishing effort.

Exemptions to the LO are as follows: species for which further improvements inselectivity are difficult to achieve and/ or handling unwanted catches incurs disproportionate costs (de minimis); species for which high survival rates havebeen scientifically demonstrated (survivability). Also, the LO does not apply toprohibited species such as: spurdog (see note in quota table), tope, porbeagleand common skate. When caught, prohibited species should promptly bereleased. See table of exemptions to the landing obligation in 2019.

(1) North Sea 1 March to 31 October, and during the whole of the year in the remainder of Regions 1 and 2, except Skagerrak and Kattegat.

(3) The catch retained on board must consist of at least 90 % of any mixture of two or more target species, or at least 60 % of any one of the target species and no more than 5 % of any mixture of cod, haddock, and saithe and no more than 15 % of any mixture of the species marked with the symbol A. Provisions regarding limitations on catches of herring which may be retained on board when taken with nets of 16 to 31 mm mesh size are stipulated in Community legislation fixing, for certain fish stocks and groups of fish stocks, total allowable catches and certain conditions under which they may be fished.

(4) The catch retained on board must consist of at least 90 % of any mixture of two or more target species, or at least 60 % of any one of the target species and no more than 5 % of any mixture of cod, haddock, and saithe and no more than 15 % of any mixture of the species marked with the symbol B.
