    Flag Day is on June 14.It is a holiday to celebratethe adoption of theAmerican Flag in 1777.

    Flag Day is not afederal holiday, so schools, banks,and government offices are open.

    On Flag Day, people display theAmerican flag. They fly the flag infront of their houses or businesses.Some civic organizations havespecial flag ceremonies with patrioticmusic.

    When the American flag isdisplayed on a flag pole, it should beraised quickly and lowered slowly. Itshould never be allowed to touch theground. When it gets old, it shouldbe burned, not thrown out.
