“Praying Always for Our Church Family”
CHURCH COVENANT
Leader: What experience defines our spiritual fellowship and covenant relationship?
Congregation: Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus as our Savior and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.
Leader: What is the bond of our union?
Congregation: We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love;
Leader: What are our privileges and duties in this Church?
Congregation: To strive for the advancement of this Church in knowledge and holiness; To give it a place in our affections, prayers, and services, above every organization of human origin; To sustain its worships, ordinances, discipline, and doctrine;
Leader: What vows do we make as stewards of God's gifts of money, time, and talent?
Congregation: To contribute cheerfully and regularly, as God has prospered us, toward its expenses for the support of a faithful and evangelical ministry among us, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel throughout the world.
Leader: To what lifestyle and conversation are we pledged?
Congregation: In case of difference of opinion in the church, we will strive to avoid a contentious spirit; and if we cannot unanimously agree, we will cheerfully recognize the right of the majority to govern. We also engage to maintain family and secret devotion; to study diligently the Word of God, to religiously educate our children. To seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintance; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be kind and just to those in our employ and faithful in the service we promise others, endeavoring in the purity of heart and good will toward all men exemplify and commend our holy faith;
Brodnax, Sister Christine GA Ford, Sister Erma FL Jordan, Sister Maggie SC Ragin, Sister Mary “Bunny” SC Wilkerson, Sister Rosa MD Young, Sister Eldred NC
Out-of-Town Family
Leader: What is our pledge to one another?
Congregation: We further engage to watch over, to pray for, to exhort and stir up each other unto every good work; to guard each other's reputation; not needlessly exposing the infirmities of others; to participate in each other's joys and with tender sympathy, bear one another's burdens and sorrows.
Leader: What tasks do we assume as the people of God?
Congregation: To cultivate Christian courtesy; to be slow to give or take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, being mindful of the rules of the Savior in the eighteenth chapter of Matthew, to secure it without delay; And through life, amid evil report, and good report, to seek to live to the glory of God, Who hath called us out of the darkness into His marvelous light; Leader: What should we do if we leave this community?
Congregation: We moreover engage, that when we remove from this place, we will as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God's Word. Leader: What benediction concludes our covenant?
Congregation: May the God of peace who brought again from the dead, the great shepherd of the sheep with the blood of an eternal covenant even our Lord Jesus, make us perfect in every good thing to do God's will, working in us that which is well pleasing in God's sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever, AMEN.

Sister Lucille L. Evans
Sister Lucille L. Evans (blessed to be 89 years of age) has been a faithful member of New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville) for 48 years. Her mother, Ethel Benns and sister, Mary Lawrence (both deceased) were members of
New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville).
Sister Evans is a widow with five children (four daughters and one son), 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. Sister Evans loves babysitting her grandchildren – “It keeps her young.” She retired from Electronic Unlimited in Portsmouth, VA with 18 years of service. Sister Evans spends her time visiting the sick within her community and she enjoys shopping, reading the Bible and taking her daily walk.
As a steadfast member of New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville), Sister Evans is a member of the Widows/Widowers Ministry and was a member of the former Shining Star Ministry (also known as the Pastor’s Aide) and the Willing Pulpiteers. Her favorite scripture is Psalm 23, “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want” and her favorite Christian song, “I Can’t Even Walk Without You Holding My Hand.”
What does Sister Evans love about New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville): Sister Evans says, “My Church Family is loving and friendly; I’m not going anywhere. I love how the spirit radiates in the house. You can feel God’s presence everywhere.”
We pray that the Lord will continue to bless Sister Evans as she continues to worship and serve Him. We are thankful to have Sister Evans as a part of the New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville) family for 48 years.
Congratulations to our “Senior in the Spotlight,” Sister Lucille L. Evans. May the Lord’s blessings continue to shine upon her.
Isaiah 46:4 . . . And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.
