University – Institute cooperation as well as in the Institutes
• Institutes do User-oriented R&D. Use University Competence if needed.

History
• Petroleum Research Centre (PRC) formed in 1983– 115 MNOK each to Stavanger and Trondheim as well as project funds
– Built Rogalandsforskning and IKU
– Stavanger and Trondheim chosen because the Civil Engineer education in
Petroleum was placed in these cities
• PRC should also provide competence development for the oil industry
• A natural link was promoted :
