FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
August 7, 2011
Dear Fountain of Life Family and Friends,
I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ and welcome you
to our 5th Anniversary Celebration worship services. As you are aware the
Fountain of Life was founded in 2006 in obedience to God’s call to plant a church
in this community. In response to that call we set forth two simple goals: to honor
God and serve the people.
To that end we have offered vibrant Word-centered worship services,
contemporary weekly bible studies, a Sunday morning Adult Learning experience,
a Children’s Church, Holy Week observances that focus on the purpose of the
Resurrection and periodic spiritual retreats. In addition, we have continued to add
ministries both within and outside of the walls of the church as we seek to serve
the needs of those in our community.
On behalf of our church I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your
support and ask that you continue to hold us up in your prayers.
God’s Best Blessings,
Rev. Dr. Cathy Clardy Patterson
Founding Pastor

CALL TO WORSHIP M = Minister | C = Congregation
M: I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord,
our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.
C: For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a
doorkeeper in the house of my God than to dwell in the tents of
wickedness.
M: Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek thy good.
C: Those that be planted in the house of the Lord, shall flourish in the
courts of our God.
M: Blessed are they that dwell in thy house. Lord, I have loved thy
habitation, the place where thy honor dwelleth.
C: For the Lord is in his holy temple, let all the earth keep silence
before him.
M: Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart be
acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.
C: O sing unto the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous
things. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth, and sing
his praises.
Abridged Decalogue
Hymn: From all that dwell below the skies
Let the Creator’s praise arise; Let the Redeemer’s name be sung.
Through every land, by every tongue
M: And God spake all these words, saying: I am the Lord thy God, who
brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the House of bondage.
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
C: (To be Sung) Lord have mercy upon us, and incline our hearts to
keep this law.
M: Hear what Christ our Saviour saith, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with
all thy heart, and with all thy soul and with all thy mind. This is the first
and great commandment. And the second is like unto it: Thou shalt love
thy neighbor as thy self. On these two commandments hang all the law
and the prophets.
GLORIA PATRI:
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

Lyrics for Worship Services
We've Come This Far By Faith (Chorus)
We've come this far by faith, Leaning on the Lord
Trusting in His Holy word, He never failed me yet
Oh' Can't Turn Around, We've come this far by faith
(Repeat)
Verse 1. Don’t be discouraged when trouble is in your life,
He’ll bear Your burdens and move all misery and Strife. That’s why we’ve....
(Chorus)
2. Just the other day, I heard a man say
He did not believe in God's word
But I can truly say, the Lord has made a way
He's never failed me yet
(Chorus)
Oh' Can't Turn Around
We've come this far by faith . . . .
“I Am on the Battlefield for my Lord” I am on the battlefield for my Lord
Yes, I’m on the battlefield for my Lord
And I promised Him that I
Would serve Him till I die
I am on the battlefield for my Lord.
Verses 1. I was alone and idle, I was a sinner, too; I heard a voice from heaven Say there is work to do. I
took the Master’s hand, And I joined the Christian band; I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.
2. I left my friends and kindred, Bound for the Promised Land, The grace f God upon me, The Bible
in my hand. In distant lands I trod, Crying sinner come to God; I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.
3. Now when I met my Savior, I met Him with a smile; He healed my wounded spirit, And
owned me as His child. Around the throne of grace, He appoints my soul a place; I’m on
the battlefield for my Lord
“Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling”
1. Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling, Calling for you and for me;
See on the portals He’s waiting and watching, Watching for you and for me.
(Refrain)
Come home, come home, Ye who are weary, come home;
Earnestly tenderly, Jesus is calling, Calling, O sinner, come home!
2. Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading, Pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not His mercies, Mercies for you and for me?

HOLY COMMUNION
The General Confession
Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, judge of all men, we acknowledge and bewail our manifold
sins and wickedness which we from time to time most grievously have committed by thought, word and deed against Your
divine Majesty, provoking most justly Your wrath and indignation against us. We do earnestly repent and are heartily sorry for
these our misdoings; the remembrance of them is grievous unto us.
Have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us, most merciful Father for Your Son our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake; forgive us all that
is past, and grant that we may ever hereafter serve and please You in the newness of live, to the honor and glory of Your
name, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give
us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Guest Speaker – Pastor Richard Burrell
Richard Burrell, is the Pastor of Mount Pleasant Church in Buckeye
Arizona, and is the youngest man to ever be appointed by the
church elders to serve as leader and role model before its
congregation. He was elected to this position of trust in May 2001,
and at the time of his appointment the church consisted of three
members. Today, under his vision and guidance, Pastor Burrell
leads a growing congregation of over 300 members.
With an honorary doctorate degree and two earned master degrees
(one in Biblical Studies and Theology from Canterbury University).
Pastor Burrell is using his education and expanding vision to
establish multiple ministries and programs, to serve the most
vulnerable population. He is the Founder and Executive Director of
Buckeye Outreach for Social Services (BOSS) a 501(c)(3) IRS
approved nonprofit faith-based organization founded in September
2005. This organization was created to empower individuals and
families to achieve self-reliance. He is also the CEO and Founder of
Richard Burrell Ministries and Burrell Property Management.
Pastor Burrell is the first African American to attend and complete Buckeye Leadership Academy,
and in 2008 he was the first African American to receive two Community Service awards one for
Relay For Life Cancer Awareness and for work being done through BOSS. His dream was to have
the Town of Buckeye (TOB) celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King’s holiday, so he planned, sought, and
received funding from the Town of Buckeye for the first ever Martin Luther King, Jr., Diversity Day
which took place on January 16, 2007 and continues planning events around Dr. King’s message of
“Diversity.” As a result of his diligence the Town of Buckeye now observes this holiday. He is a faith-
based consultant who is sought by local, state, and national faith-based groups for vision, design
and the implementation of community-based programs and growing small churches. His latest
outreach ministry is HIV/AIDs education among rural isolated populations of socially, economically
and educationally disadvantaged individuals. He has spoken at numerous motivational, fund raising
and a “call to action” events.
When he is not shepherding or being a spiritual father to his congregation, he volunteers his time,
visions and talents to participate on panels, organizations and committees that are focused on
helping and healing individuals, families and communities. Some of the positions that he currently
holds are; original board member to the Town of Buckeye Faith Builders and sits on TOB
committees for the Homeless and Transportation, Consultant to the Governor’s Council, 3rd
Vice
President of NAACP of Maricopa County, Religious Affairs Officer, he is a Silver Life Member of the
NAACP and Chaplin of NOBLE (National Organization Black Law Enforcement Executives.)
On February 14, 2009, Pastor Burrell was given the James Love Bryant award for his tireless effort for
getting the message of HIV/AIDs out not only through outreach programs but also from the pulpit.
Normally this award is given to groups and organizations for their work within the HIV/AIDs
community, however; Pastor Burrell is the first ever to receive this award as an individual. Also, to his
credit Pastor Burrell has received countless certificates, honorable mentions and plaques for his
work with HIV/AIDs.
Pastor Burrell lives his convictions; he says what he means and means what he says. Pastor Burrell
has a unique quality in the way he conveys his message, when he explains it an infant can
understand it! He is a devoted husband to Tamie and dad to Tamar, Marc, Richard, Lareesha and
London.

It's so hard to believe that 12 years have passed since the day you left this earth to go home to be with the Lord.
There are not enough words to express how much you are loved and missed. You were an inspiration to us all, and you still are.
Not a day goes by that you aren't thought of and missed. Your memory will remain in our hearts until the day we meet again in heaven.
We love & miss you,

WE HAVE BEEN COMMISSIONED (Matthew 28:18-20)*
The purpose of Fountain of Life shall be to fulfill The Great Commission issued by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We shall do so by being a S.P.I.R.I.T. filled church. Thus, we shall:
Save the world We shall do so by participating in global ministries. (Mark 28:19)
Present in our home We shall begin to fulfill the commission in our own homes. (Ephesians 6:14)
Involved in our community We shall be involved in every aspect of our communities. (1 John 3:18)
Responsible for our neighbors We shall act like the Good Samaritan and take responsibility for our neighbors. (Luke 10: 25-37)
In tune to God’s will Our actions shall be directed by His will not ours. (Matthew 6: 10)
Transparent We shall be “truth tellers” to each other and to all
authorities. (Zechariah 8:16) and (2 Samuel 12:1-9)
In short, we shall honor God and serve the needs of the people.
*18And Jesus came to them and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been
given to me. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: 20and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you: And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age. (Mathew 28:18-20) NRSV
