Day 1: Departure from the USA
Day 2: Paris Welcome to Paris where your CHA Tour Director greets you at the airport andescorts you via motorcoach to your hotel. Later,get better acquainted with the “City of Lights”on a CHA Walking Tour.
Day 3: Paris Guided sightseeing this morninghighlights the treasures of Paris: the Place de laConcorde, the Champs-Elysees and the soaringEiffel Tower. Enjoy visits to Gothic Notre DameCathedral and the world-famous Louvre Museumwhere the balance of the day is yours to exploreusing your “CHA Walking Guide.”
Day 4: Paris-TGV to Basel-Lucerne Board your high-speed TGV train to Basel. Upon arrival,proceed to lakeside Lucerne where sightseeingreveals its medieval ramparts, the 14th-centuryKapellbruecke and the Lion Monument.
Day 5: Lucerne-Verona-Venice Journey across the Italian border to Verona, the settingof Shakespeare’s tragic “Romeo and Juliet.” SeeJuliet’s house and balcony before proceeding to romantic Venice.
Day 6: Venice-Florence Guided sightseeingthis morning reveals the treasures of Venice. Admire the Bridge of Sighs, the Doges’ Palaceand the Piazza San Marco. Included are visits to St. Mark’s Basilica and a Venetian Glass Factoryfor a demonstration of the city’s renownedglass-blowing techniques. Later, drive throughthe rolling hills of Tuscany to Florence, “the Cradle of the Renaissance.” Tonight, join yourTour Director on an Evening Walking Tour.
Day 7: Florence-(Pisa) The Medici Dynastycomes alive on your guided sightseeing tour of Florence. See Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Churchof Santa Croce, the Baptistry’s bronze doors, the Piazza della Signoria and Palazzo Vecchio.Included are visits to the GothicDuomo and the Galleria dell’Accademia to see Michelangelo’s“David.” Afterwards, observe Florentine crafts-men at work at a local Leather Factory. On yourfree afternoon, stroll across the Ponte Vecchiofor spectacular views of the city or consider anoptional excursion to see Pisa’s Leaning Tower.
Day 8: Florence-Rome Journey south toRome, the “Eternal City.” Later, join your Tour Director on an Evening Walking Tour to get better acquainted with Italy’s capital.
Day 9: Rome-(Catacombs) This morning’sguided sightseeing tour of Rome includes visitsto St. Peter’s Basilica, the Catholic world’s largestchurch, and the Sistine Chapel to see the artistryof Michelangelo’s superbly painted ceiling first-hand. Then learn about the ancient Roman civilization as you see the sprawling ruins of the Roman Forum and visit the Colosseum, thelargest amphitheatre ever built in the Romanempire, which once housed over 60,000 specta-tors. This afternoon is free for an optional excur-sion to the ancient catacombs.
Day 10: Departure or Southern Italy Extension Board your return flight today or extend your stay in Italy by two additionalnights ($599) including sightseeing of Pompeiiand Capri.
